I thought that I add some other thoughts. Melbourne is a great place to eat International food, after so many years in this great “food” town, here are some of my secret eating places: Greek Food – Jim’s in Collingwood (Nicholson St.), Turkish food – Adana in Brunswick (Sydney Road), Indian – Agra Take Away in Clayton and my Sri Lankan neighbour, Vietnamese – Springvale or Box Hill (they all tastes the same) but I do recommend the BBQ duck & P… which you can see hanging in the windows, Middle Eastern – Home cooking based on Oasis (North Road) ingredients, Indonesian – Java in Clayton (lunch only), Hamburgers – Greasy Joes in Auckland Street, Chicken Kebab in Footscray Mall (watch for the junkies), Kids food – any pub bistro, Pizza – La Pochetta in Carlton (the original shop), Homemade Ice Cream – opposite La Pochetta in Carlton. Most of the above places are the common people place of eating, prices is more than reasonable and the food is great (exclude Jims which have no menu and the price is a mystery until you get the account). Tip: If you travelling outside Melbourne to the bush and other areas which you are not familiar with, it is recommended to eat in the pub bistros or the fish & chips shops in order to get value for your money and reasonable food. When I came to Australia 15 years ago, I was told it is too farrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. These days people tell me it is not far enoughhhh.
