האם תוכלו להסביר מה ההבדל בין lawyer לבין attorney

האם יש מונחים נפרדים בעברית לכל אחד מהם? תודה רבה

Strictly speaking the word Lawyer means an expert in matters of law and an attorney means someone who acts on behalf of another. Nowadays, both terms have come to represent the same notion of a person representing another in a legal matter. However, a lawyer could be someone who has just studied law (משפטן), but has not been accepted to the Bar (לשכה) and therefore cannot represent another person. The correct term for עורך-דין is Attorney-at-Law. Both terms are American and in Britain the respective terms are Solicitor and Barrister. The words Advocate and (Legal) Counsel are also used at times.​

however as far as I know only a notary (נוטריון) can authenticate documents. To really give a meaningful answer I'd have to see the complete sentence, but I appreciate that this could be a private matter. You're welcome to send me a personal message if that helps.​

נאמר במכתב שאפשר לאשר את המסמכים בשלושה אופנים: 1. אצל Lawyer או attorney 2. אצל נוטריון ציבורי 3. בשגרירות, קונסוליה או נציבות של הארץ שבה הם הוצאו אני פשוט צריכה לתרגם את המכתב ואני תוהה איך לתרגם את שני המונחים הנ"ל. ייתכן מאד שאתה צודק בקשר להיות הנוטריון האופציה היחידה האפשרית למעשה, אך מכיוון שאני רק מתרגמת ולא יועצת, אין לי יכולת להביע את דעתי על שלושת האופנים הללו

. ואם כבר מדברים על תרגום ועל בנקים... אולי ידוע לך מה פירוש המשפט a signatory to the Banking Kodes ? האם יש לו איזושי חלופה בעברית? שוב
