Hi everyone,
I live in Calgary and bought a house two years ago, last week I noticed that in the basement small portion of the concrete wall there is a seepage of water, from the wall and or floor, there are no visible cracks and the foundation looks in one piece, of course there is mold in that area.
I was wondering if one of you had this kind of problem and what are the solutions and if you live in Calgary recommend me a reliable contractor.
I am already imagining dollar signs, and expecting a blow to my bank account!!!

אם בשנות השבעים יש מערכת ניקוז פאסיבית. ויפין טיילס. יש לבדוק אם לא סתום. לבדוק פתחים סביב האזור. לבדוק שיפוע קרקע חיצוני אם מרחיק מים מהבית.

אלא מהיכן שהסדק, וזה יכול להיות במרחק מה. חשוב לבדוק את חלונות המרתף אות ה windows wells, שיש בהם ניקוז. יש גם אפשרות שיש חדירה בין הקירות לרצפה, אם יש שם סדק.בכל מקרה, יש חברות שיודעות במקרים מיוחדים לתקן את הסדקים מבפנים.
בכל מקרה לרוב רטיבות בבייסמנט הוא כאב ראש.

Hi everyone,

First of all, I would like to thank all those who replied in the forum and in person.
I had learned a lot from this experience, the quotes that I got to fix the problem was from 18K to 5K.
In the end I paid 136 dollars to fix it.

I brought few contractors and all said I have to put sump pump and internal/external wiping tile etc.
They showed me videos and AutoCADs presentation how it will be fixed etc.

One of my friends recommended a plumber (60yo) that does sump pump too, that gentlemen came to see the place, and investigated for 10 min. and pointed to a drywall in the adjacent room and asked me if he can remove a section of the wall, I agreed and after removing the drywall we found a drain pipe from the kitchen above that was disconnected from the fitting in the floor in the basement, of course we saw all the water and mold around the area, and how it is spreading in the basement.

He cleaned and glued the disconnected pipe, he was in the house for 20 min and it cost me 136 dollars including taxes.

Imagine I didn’t get this plumber, most probably it was costing me to “fix” it around 10k and still I would have the water issue.

I think that we all can learn a lesson here, always go for fifth or seventh opinion, if it is a water in the basement, health problems or any kind of issues, sometime a person can go for a heart transplant, just because he has Heartburn resulting from certain food. And the diagnosis is wrong.
