Last titan in service- London
Hello, for those who visited Lodnon, the sad news is that after 25 yrs, the Titan finsihed service after T1018 performed all day as Q98 on route 40. There were 1125 of those produced by Leyland plus about 50 for GMPTE [Yes, they did see service in Stockport!!], so in a sense they were a unique London bus. The attached pici is not particularly sharp -apolpgies- not mine! regards Yoram.

but the Metrobus is still going....
Hello, The Titan and the Metrobus were ordered by London Transport side by side. The Metro first entered service on route 16 in nov 1978, and we ended having over 1440 of those. The Metros are on their last legs, and they survive only because of service increases. Here is M953 making a very rare appearance on route 345. London General withdrew their last M in March 2003. On 15 Nov 2003, it is planned to run M1 in service on route 16- where is started- in full 1978 livery.

Hong Kong bus fans
Hello, I visit Hong Kong once a year, and I know a few bus fans over there. There are many websites and forums, but, you either have to know chinese or know the place the buses and the route network very well [which I do]. Anyway, pls see just how many bus fans gathered here on last years social gathering- they hired a couple of buses [MANs!!! I can already imagine a someone's reaction.] Enjoy Yoram.

Hello, I visit Hong Kong once a year, and I know a few bus fans over there. There are many websites and forums, but, you either have to know chinese or know the place the buses and the route network very well [which I do]. Anyway, pls see just how many bus fans gathered here on last years social gathering- they hired a couple of buses [MANs!!! I can already imagine a someone's reaction.] Enjoy Yoram.

well, a good question! Mercedes did not attempt to go into the double deck low floor market at all in recent years, so, when the photo was taken there were no Mercs in service in HK! If you look at their website there is no mention of such buses. I wonder why! However, they are pulling all the stops to sell the Citaros in the UK, and in particular the articlulated artics. In Hk the artics were ruled out by the dept of transport. regards Yoram.

MAN in Hong Kong
Hello, Here is one of 32 MANS with Berkhof bodies in service with Kowloon Motor Bus in HK. those are 12m buses air cond and coach seat standards. put to shame anything you see in London- and in Israel too!

Merc in HK
There were Mercedes 0305 d/d in Hk- they finished service on Nov 2002. Here is one of them on route 59A. regards Yoram

we have the following Citaro routes: normal buses: route RV1 Aldwych- Tower Hill via Waterloo the Tate London Bridge and Tower Bridge Artics: 453- Marylebone, Oxford Circus, Regent Street, Piccadilly, Whitehall and route 53 to Deptford 436- Paddington to Lewisham via the 36 route 507: red Arrow Route- Waterllo to Victoria via Lambeth Bridge 521: Waterloo to Lodnon Bridge via the City 18- from Mid nov 2003 is converted to artics: Euston to Sudbury. outside the boundary: routes 74/5 Heathrow-Slough and Bracknell, but those are very expenive to run. However... between the airport and Bath Road they are free! [one stop] Photo spots are possible for all of them- even in October Regards Yoram.

The four routes they serve now passed their quality mark tests with flying colours. The tests are reliablility, buses turn up on time, clean buses and waiting at bus stops times. London Central and General are very happy with them too. Passanger reaction is just as important: On all 4 routes it has really gone up! The normal Citaros are operated by First only on route RV1. More are due for route 293- operated by Epsom buses, and First operate them outside the London network from Heathrow to Slough. The record of the Citaros on route RV1 is mixed. They require 9 buses for operation , have 12 in stock, but amlost every weekend, a double deck substitute for a Citaro. The buses are well liked though. However, the artics are a different story- simply not all routes are suitable for such operation, and... The bus drivers union won a significant concession- they are paid much more to drive artics than normal double decks. This means that it costs more to operate 24 artics than 31 conventional double decks. regards Yoram.
