9 items added today, all classics: KOOPER/BLOOMFIELD - FILMORE EAST:THE LOST CONCERT TAPES This incredible music lied undiscovered for over 30 years after being recorded in 1968 as part of the sessions produced by Al Kooper for the `Supper Session` and `Live Adventures` albums. Heartbreaking blues numbers (one of which features the talents of Johnny Winter - yet to be discovered) and some great tunes written by Kooper make it a delightful musical experience and a serious twinge of nostalgia, What a gem! RETURN TO FOREVER - ROMANTIC WARRIOR 4th album from 1976 and the last to feature Al DiMeola on guitar, before he launched his illustrious solo career. Considered by many as the strongest album of this group, it features both brilliant instrumental prerformances, as well as excellent writing. This is classic fusion at its best and an essential item in any fusion or prog collection. MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA - APOCALYPSE 4th album from 1974 and first for the second line-up of the group featuring Jean-Luc Ponty on violin. A bold and adventurous album combining Fusion and classical music for the first time, with rich, tasteful symphonic statements orchestrated for McLaughlin by Michael Gibbs, the UK composer. Recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra, this is an icon of the era when dreaming and daring was possible. MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA - THE LOST TRIDENT SESSIONS Although released only in 1999, this in fact is the 3rd and last studio album of the original Mahavishnu Orchestra, recorded in London in 1973 and never previously released. It`s difficult to believe that the producer and the group decided to leave this momentous material unreleased, but it did happen, probably due to the fact that McLaughlin was already planning the new version of the group. The material is as good as the 2 original albums. SHATKI - NATURAL ELEMENTS 3rd and last album from 1977 by the 1970`s version of Shakti (to be re-incarnated in 1999), which featured the amazing talents of John McLaughlin on guitar and some of the best Indian musicians playing traditional acoustic instruments. A Fusion of jazz and indian music, this incredibly beautiful and moving music is undoubtedly one of the most original and elevating examples of cross-cultre possibilities. BECK, JEFF - TRUTH 1st album from 1968 by guitarist extraordinare Jeff Beck, who after exchanging guitar licks in the Yardbirds with Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page opted for a solo career. This is a monumental album, one of the corner stones of modern rock, but unfortunately often forgotten and neglected by fans and critics alike. Beck`s masterful attack on guitar and his brilliant technique, combined with the vocal talents of Rod Stewart make this as important as paraller debut albums by Cream or Led Zeppelin. BECK, JEFF - BECK-OLA 2nd album from 1969 and every iota as good as the debut, with identical line-up. Both albums are credited with the initiation of `heavy rock`, but although Beck uses his guitar to play some heavy riffs, but today`s standards this is quite timid. Nevertheless this is magnificent music, played and sung by true visionary musicians and a great reminder of some of rock`s greatests moments. SOFT MACHINE - THIRD 3rd album from 1970, originally a double LP, now on 1 CD. Expanded line-up including a horn section, creates what is widely accepted as one of the greatest epics of Prog and Canterbury music, with brilliant improvisations and incredibly strong writing. Almost entirely instrumental, with Wyatt`s occasional scatting and imaginative drumming. A landmark recording for both the Prog and the Jazz-Rock genres. SOFT MACHINE - SIX 6th album from 1973, originally a double LP now on 1 CD. After Wyatt left SM, the group turned ever more into a Jazz-Rock and even avant-garde jazz group, retaining Mike Ratledge on keyboards as the only original member and with emphasis on front reedman Elton Dean and later Karl Jenkins. Six includes one studio and one live album of blistering Jazz-Rock Fusion, beautiflly played, with John Marshall on drums. Have Fun! Adam Baruch Jazzis Web Shop https://www.jazzis.com/shop/
