I'm lost with perplexity...

HEY
As you already know, English is a rich language; full of words and phrases. There are formal words and infomal words- what does it mean? what's the difference between a formal word and an informal word? I've never grasped that, therefore I direct this question to you. I appreciate your answers

formal word... i guess its the diffrence between enlish and literary english... right? i mean... for me formal english would be saing: "ive slain the beast with my mighty blade and trusty steed" instead of saing: " i killed the wolf with my sword and horse"...

Not exactly

Formal English is the language you would use to make a speech, write an article in a newspaper, or a report in school, or a letter to a business associate, etc. It doesn't have to be particularly fancy (you don't have to say "slay", "kill" is perfectly acceptable), but it should be clean, correct language. Informal English is what you use when speaking to friends. It can contain abbreviations, slang, sloppy grammar, and so on.

Formal and Informal words

If you check in the Oxford Dictionary (maybe in other dictionaries as well) you will see that some of the words are formal and some are informal. it's written in brackets, for example: Halt (formal) - לעצור, להפסיק Gig (informal) - הופעה "ain't" is just an abbreviation.

אם את חושב שאתה יודע את התשובה -

אז למה שאלת? לפי הכתיב שלך, עדיף שתקרא מה שענו לך ותפנים. אולי תלמד משהו.
