I Met Mike & hello Michal
Hello Michal Thanks for your wellcome. I just recently became a member and like this website. It's nice to meet so many of Mike's fans. I'm attaching my message from yesterday in case someone is interested. I got interested in Mike after seein the the movie. Living in the US we knew nothing about his success Best, Hedy I'm an Israeli, originally from Haifa who has lived in the US since 1970. I knew Mike when we were teenagers in the 60's. I met him through my friend Menashe who was a musician and a neighbor of Mike. I remember meeting Mike downtown Haifa with a bunch of friends. Somehow we were outdoors and Mike set on a parked car (I think he had a guitar, but I'm not sure) and started singing American pop songs. In the "chevra salonit" all we listened and danced to was Amirican, and some English popular music so we sang along with him.I remeber thinking "who's this skinny tall Israeli who sings and looks like an American pop star?" I saw Mike on a few other ocassions and even met him in 1971 (I think) at the Lod today Ben Gurion airport. He remebered me, was very friendly and offered me a ride home Unfortunately I couldn't take it.He told me at that time that he's living in France and has made it as a singer there. I had no idea to what extend he has succeeded till I saw Laufer's movie at the Israeli Film Festival here. Then I remembered him very vivedly, called my friend Menashe who lives in the US as well and we remenisced about the the 60's . We didn't know Mike well, and were not in his circle of friends but the few times we met him he left us with a very positive impression . I've since bought all of Mike's CD's and even though I don't speak French, I love his romantic songs and enjoy his beautiful voice. .
