I have added a new picture of latch

I have added a new picture of latch

in the gallery. It is the picture called How to Latch. This is how the latch should look from your point of view. If you are feeding from the left breast, then you are holding the left breast with your left hand, and holding the baby with your right. Your hand is on the baby's "oref" and not his head and your arm and elbow are pulling him closer to your body. Note that you start with the nipple under the baby's nose which causes him to tilt his head back and open a WIDE mouth, and that the baby is taking more of the hila UNDER the nipple, that his head is a continuation of your breast, and that his belly is under your other breast and that his whole body is more in the direction of your other breast. For those of you who are suffering pain while breastfeeding , this is the way to fix it. Let me know when you have tried it!! If you want to share pictures of your latch from this view, I would be happy to tell you if it is ok!!

I promised a few months ago to let you know about the lactation management classes I was about to take... So, yesterday was the last day! The course was wonderful (taught by the great Kay Hoover in Philadelphia) and I enjoyed every second of it! Most of the people there were either nurses or Doulas, and I was one of the few women that had no professional experience at all... but it didn't really matter. I had a great time and learned a lot! Now I got to start looking for a hospital or a clinic that is looking for trainees or have some sort of an internship program. I know of a hospital in Philadelphia, and a brand new BF clinic in Elkins-Park, PA... both a little far (about an hour from my home without traffic) but it's ok. Sorry for the length - I'm just really excited and wanted to tell you all about it. And thanks for all you help!!! I really apreciate everything you have done for me.

great!! i want to hear more !!

Kay is the world expert on Pitria!! I hope that you will be actively participating in our forum. You can ask if that will count as clincial hours if it is under my observation!! One good way to accumulate hours is to become a La Leche League leader. This gives you lots of experience with babies of all ages, and is very rewarding work. I was originally a LLL. Which book did you use as a text?

The text we used

the text was put together by Kay and was written to go along with the lectures. She used the most amazing videos and slides - she has an incredible collection!!! Of course she told us about her work with the pitriot... and had about a million slides to show us (ok, maybe not a million but a lot). I am going to talk to someone I know about becoming a La Leche leader - I think that might take some time to accomplish as well, but it is a good idea. When the new baby comes in August I'm going to start attending their monthly meetings (something I never did with Yuval). By the way - it's going to be another girl! YONEKET of course!
