שלום, אני חייבת שמישהו יעזור לי! אני מתכתבת עם מישהו באנגלית והוא רוצה שאני יספר לו על עצמי. אז התחלתי לנסח וראיתי שיש דברים שאני לא יודעת איך. וחבל לי, כי זה מישהו ממש נחמד. יש לי בבילון במחשב, כך שזו לא בעיה של אוצר מילים, אלא של ניסוח. אז החלטתי לרשום במקום זה את הכל בעיברית ואם יש פה מישהו נחמד שיעזור לי לתרגם את זה לאנגלית אני יודה לו מאד.

You didn't give me details about yourself, yet I'll try to give you an example of describing a person. For instance, let's say your name is Katty, you're 18 years old, your hair color is brown, blue is the color of your eyes as well as your favorite color, etc. When you want to describe yourself you can do so like this: Hi, my name is Katty, I'm 18 years old, and I'm from Tel Aviv. I'm 168 (cm), thin, my hair color is brown, and my eyes are blue. I love animals, especially cats. I find cats are the most cutest animals in the world! Besides animals, I love dancing, surfing the net, laughing with friends, etc. Right now I don't have a car, however presumably after I finish working as a waitress, I'll have enough money to afford myself one. איך אומרים באנגלית להתגייס? במילון יש כמה מילים ואני לא יודעת איזו הכי מתאימה...

נראה לי שהצורה הנכונה זה get drafted אבל אפשר גם להגיד join the army.

כי ל-join the army משמעות יותר עמומה - יכול להיות באופן וולונטרי.

פשוט כאן אומרים להתגייס בכל מקרה, באנגלית יותר לענין לכתוב בדיוק מה קרה. אני אישית גוייסתי כמו כולם, אבל מאוד רציתי. אז על עצמי הייתי אומרת ש"הצטרפתי לצבא"

אבל המינוח "הצטרפתי לצבא" עמום, ויכול להטעות מישהו שלא יודע שהשירות בצה"ל הוא חובה ולא רשות.
