FBI Fingerprints - updated info, tips and tricks For anyone who needs FBI clearance - here is some up to date info on how things work. If you have any questions - ask. Info: ==== Address for sending fingerprints is: FBI CJIS Division – Record Request 1000 Custer Hollow Road Clarksburg, West Virginia 26306 All info is here: http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cjisd/fpr request.html Phone is: 304-625-5590 Based on this data we submitted fingerprints and had them processed this month. Tips and Tricks: ============ People with thin or small fingers (usually females) might have prints that are hard to read. It is recommanded to have them make more than one card of prints and do them both with a lot of ink (dark prints) and with little ink (light prints). If the prints look to you as if they are not clear print another card. The more the merrier. Always send the fingerprints with a service that can confirm delivery. FedEx is best. They claim it takes them a week to register the mail. Call in after a week and ask. Then call again and again. Calling them is the only way to push this through. The results come back in a regular envelope. You may open it (no sealed envelope rule) and the card has a stamp on the back saying "No Arrest Record" and the date. Also stapled to it is a letter and the payment stab. This is to be sent to the Canadian Embassy. If the fingerprints are not good - a letter asking for a new set will be attached to the card. There is no need to pay again when submitting new fingerprints. Timeline ====== December 15th Fingerprints sent to FBI. December 22nd Fingerprints arrived at FBI. January 20th Phone call to FBI - need new set of wife fingerprints. January 20th Resend new set of wife fingerprints to FBI. January 21th Wife fingerprints arrived at FBI. January 24th First set of fingerprints returned from FBI.
