Cortex - materia rec / boundless music - Interview on e-mag teknasia france http://www.teknasia.com/article.php?id_article=390 Cortex of Israel. He started to produce music in his age 15. He had collaboration on few tracks with artists such as : Dynamic, Dna, Twisted Reaction, Safi Connection, Khopat, Sidhartha, Tetrium, Toxical, Shake The Snake, Insane Logic. It was time to release his first long expected album which is coming out in July on Materia Records. Hi Assaf, please tell us more about yourself ? My name is Assaf Weizmann (23) aka Cortex / israeli sphinx live with my wife and son in South of Israel . Make music from the age of 14 old and work with Materia Records (Spain) and manager of boundless music/booking agency - label (Israel). When and how did you get in contact with the music ? When I listen in the first time to trance music I just fall in love with and start to collect music and after short period of time I started to make the music first time in I-T program (impulse tracker) and with time I start to construct my studio and use in cubase. What was the determinative experience which lead you to the Psytrance scene ? I always liked music a lot but in trance there is something that u not find in other music all refreshing production and all is without a doubt the next revolution in world music. People of the scene is interesting ppl and all electronic festivals and parties are really cool. Do you have any musician experience besides the electronic dance music ? I make chill ambiant music and more stuff like songs but my main part is electronic music. I like to listen to all music style like The Doors, Gorilaz, Evanescence, Linkin Park, Bob Marley and israeli music. Where and what was Your first party experience where you could present your music ? It started with small party in 2000 south israel first time I play part from my music and it was really cool to see my music made move and dancing ppl. Tell me about your artist name please, who is behind it ? Ok. Cortex is some level(skin) on brain and my other name project israeli sphinx - is israeli mysterious and the point in this 2 names is that my music come from mysterious and real place, something that I’m really want to insert in to electronic scene. Make music from my heart and not only commercial music. What technical equipment/software do you use for producing ? Equipment : computer intel d core 1.7 mhz and pentium 4 2800 mhz / m audio voice card / behringer and dynaudio monitors / control keyboard m audio / novation some of the tracks from the allbum were edited in Toxical Studio. Software : cubase sx / sound forge and alot of vst plugin and effects. What is your philosophy in the studio ? I mean method of working. I work on psy trance and full on with live guitar with Shake The Snake (Ran and Kobi) 2 talents. My philosophy in the studio is give to trance ppl and general ppl dancing in parties/festival with rhythmic and psychedelic music. I read to this psy fullon its rhythmic of full on and effect of dark and psy with goa melodies. Do you have any plans for an album/compillation in the future ? First, I release my first album on Materia records (Spain) in july : CORTEX - Time For Salvation (MAT05CD). And I release soon more a lot of compilations. Next party, where you will play ? I play in Click FM radio in 7/june (www.clickfm.co.il/english/index.asp), in 14-19 June in Drops Reflections Festival (Austria), in july tour in Brazil and coming soon more info about world wide album tour.
