The meaning of Yom Kippur in my life As every year, after "Rosh Hashana", many people, not only religious, but also seculars gather together in the synagogue for the judgememt day- Yom Kippur. In my opinion, Yom Kippur isn't an ordinary day. It's time when everyone stands face to face with God and confesses his sins and the bad behaviour he has done during the last year. Yom Kippur is the most sacred day in the year apart from "Shabat". In Yom Kippur God decides who is for life and who is for death. After Yom Kippur it's not possible to ask for forgiveness from God any more. Therefore, we must hurry up to ask for atonement before God closes his "gates". Furthermore, special rules were determined to emphasize the meaning of that day. the main rule is fast. Everyone torments his body and makes tremendous efforts in order to prove to God how much he wants to be forgiven and righteous
