A family with 3 kids income

I hope it is OK to ask a money question:
I make some calculations about our future expenses (will arive in March), for family with kids of age 9, 6 and 20 months with help of calculator of a childcare subsidy in Toronto:
1.If the income is 40000 (hopefully my husband will earn close to that ammount as a first job for newcomer) and I stay home- 2850 after tax income a month - no subsidy, none of my income.
2. If I find a job about 40000 (hopefully) - after tax income 2850, after we pay 1000 for subsidised daycare and 1000 for 2 afterschool and 700 for second car for me (including ensurance, gasolin, repairs, loss of value, etc) - nothing left from my income
3. If I work part time for about 20000 - my income after tax 1500, subsidised childcare - 670, no afterschool, car - 700, nothing left from my income
So it seems like if a woman's income is less then 40000 - nothing left of her income in family like ours. And with 1 overage income of 40000 - it is obviously hardly enough for chipiest rent and food. Am I wrong? Can you explain what is wrong in this calculation?

כמה דברים

קודם כל, מלבד מס הכנסה יש עוד כמה דברים שיורדים מהמשכורת:
EI- Employment insurance שזה דומה קצת לביטוח לאומי: תשלום לצורך קבלת דמי אבטלה במקרה של פיטורין.
CPP- Canada Pension Plan שוב מקביל למה שמשלמים לבט"ל רק במקרה זה עבור פנסיה.
באונטריו יש גם תוכנית להוסיף תוכנית פנסיונית ORPP- Ontario Retirement Pension Plan החל מינואר 2017.

אם לא כללת את הדברים האלו בחישוב, הנטו שלכם יהיה נמוך יותר ממה שחישבת.

אבל, הנטו פחות חשוב לצורך העניין. לפי ההכנסה ברוטו אפשר להעריך די טוב. והכנסה ברוטו של 40K בשנה למשפחה של 5 נפשות היא הכנסה נמוכה שיהיה קשה מאד להסתדר איתה בטורונטו. זה אומר בוודאות להתפשר על רמת המגורים ומקום המגורים ( = בתי ספר פחות נחשבים- לא בהכרח גרועים), רכב, בילויים וכד'. הכנסה של 80K (זה קצת מעל ההכנסה החציונית למשפחה באזור טורונטו שהיא בסביבות 70K לפי נתונים של Statistics Canada מ 2013 http://www.statcan.gc.ca/tables-tableaux/sum-som/l01/cst01/famil107a-eng.htm) תאפשר לכם יותר אבל אם צריך להכניס ילד ל daycare זו תוספת הוצאה משמעותית כך שעדיין תצטרכו להתנהל בחסכנות.
וכמובן, קחו בחשבון שיתכן שבתקופה ראשונה של מספר חודשים לא יהיו לכם בכלל הכנסות. לא קל למהגרים למצוא עבודה (מלבד עבודות בלתי מקצועיות בשכר מינימום)

החישוב שלך הוא נכון

כאשר רק משכורת אחת של כ-$2850 בחודש נשארת לתשלום הוצאות שוטפות, קשה מאוד להתקיים. שכר דירה לדירה עם שני חדרי שינה יהיה בסביבות $1500 בחודש + חשבונות (חשמל, טלפון, כבלים). ישארו כ-$1000 דולר בשביל מזון ורכב ראשון - כבר בלתי אפשרי. ועוד לא התחלנו לקנות ריהוט, מכשירי חשמל קטנים, ביגוד וכו'. ברור שאין מה לדבר על חוגים, בילויים, צעצועים, מתנות שמביאים לימי הולדת של חברים, חלילה טיפולי שיניים וכו'.
אם יש לכם חסכונות (את שני הרכבים עוד צריך לקנות), משכורות שלכם לא יספיקו.
כמו שאמרו לפניי, בהרבה חודשים ראשונים לא צפויה לכם הכנסה כלל, פרט לעבודות מזדמנות בשכר מינימום (שוק העבודה ב-GTA הוא קשה מאוד. מגיעים לאזור זה כחצי מיליון איש כל שנה).

Not necessarily

The rent in midtown Toronto on the Yonge subway line is not higher than in bad neighborhoods. There are many townhouses in the midtown area that a family can rent. We have discussed the entire topic extensively in the past:

A woman with three young children needs a car. But, it's not a necessity for her husband, who can get around by taking the bus and the subway. When he needs to get to a job interview out of town, he can take the family car. However, he does not need access to a car on a daily basis.

שכחתי לגמרי שהיו כבר היתה פה

בכל מקרה, ממה שאני ראיתי במכרז טורונטו, טאון האוסים מושכרים החל מ2200 דולר, לא משאיר להם הרבה ממה לחיות. הנכסים הזולים הם בעיקר קונדאים, זה יכול להיות בעייתי מכיוון שכפי שצויין ע"י שאטלס יכול להיות שלא ישכירו למשפחה עם ילדים. בקומפלקס בו גרתי זה בדיוק היה המצב. בנוסף נשאלת השאלה האם מרכז העיר היא סביבה בה רוצים לגדל ילדים היכן שאין להם מקומות לצאת ולשחק וכו.
לגבי המושבניק, ברור שהוא עוזר אבל אני מניח שהוא לא עושה זאת ממניעים פילנטרופים. לא שזה לא בסדר, אף אחד לא מצפה ממנו להיות פילנטרופ רק מציין שזה גם כסף ועם הכנסה ככ נמוכה לשלם 13 חודשי שכירות בשנה הראשונה במקום 12 זה משמעותי.

Midtown Toronto

Ido, I agree that he Moshavnik does not work for free. However, as far as I know, only the owners of the property pay him for his services. Renters and buyers do not pay a real estate broker.

Property Management Companies don't care

New immigrants often arrive with large families, and they usually have more than just one person in a bedroom.

Besides, I regularly see in the midtown area small houses with For Rent signs. It's just a matter of looking. Or, they could always ask the Moshavnik to help them find something suitable...

I used to live in an adult building

No children or animals were allowed. It was a great building to live in. Then, the building was sold to a large public company. The building became full of children and animals, who basically destroyed it and the quality of life for tenants. However, the property management only cared about collecting their inflated rent, nothing else. It still doesn't.

Other buildings in the area are no different. The policy regarding not allowing children has changed
