I disagree. It depends upon your focus. My first race was a small, local 12-hour race. Because everyone else was a seasoned race veteran, my team's performance relative was obviously less, but not embarassingly so. By contrast, the Trilife races are geared for everyone. Compared to other races, they are not as technical. The races are specifically designed so that those with less experience can ride. In fact, at my first 24hr race, the best performance on my team was put in by people in their first season, while the worst performance by far was from someone who has a few years of experience. Again, it comes down to training time and mental state...and there is more than enough time for someone to race well at Kelso if they commit now.
