כמה שהוא באמת כזה... Prince charmed

By LOUIS B. HOBSON -- Calgary Sun Chad Michael Murray feels he may have finally graduated from the school of hard knocks. His smouldering performances as Tristan DuGrey on The Gilmore Girls and Charlie Todd on Dawson's Creek prompted the editors of Teen People magazine to name Murray one of the "10 Hottest Guys in TV." Earlier this year, he starred as the masked man in the WB's The Lone Ranger, and currently plays the high school rebel who finds himself falling for both Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis when they switch bodies in the Disney comedy Freaky Friday, opening Wednesday. Next month, Murray begins filming his new WB series One Tree Hill in which he plays a high school senior who discovers he's the poor half--brother of one of the most popular jocks in his school. "The concept behind One Tree Hill is that back in high school this guy impregnated two girls. He married one and abandoned the other," explains Murray. "The son of the woman he married grows up with a father, money, privilege and a really great life." "I play the other son who was abandoned and grew up with nothing." Tragically, Murray, 21, didn't have to dig too deep to research his role. "My mom abandoned me and my four brothers when I was 10. She put me on the bus for school one morning, saying she was going out of town for a couple of weeks." "She didn't come back 'til I was 18. My dad raised us." Murray jokes that "because dad (an air traffic controller) was raising four boys he'd say that going to work at the airport was restful." His mom's unexplained departure left Murray confused and withdrawn to the point he developed a serious intestinal disorder. "I had no stuff, no money, no friends. I was basically a hermit. I only went to school because I had to." "When I was 15, I went into hospital for two months for an operation on my intestine." Murray's nurse was a part-time model who got him an agent and a modelling contract. His New York agent eventually talked him into relocating to L.A. "I took the $900 I'd saved for graduation and headed out to L.A.," where he notched a series of commercials and guest spots on TV shows before landing the gig on Gilmore Girls. Murray is currently shooting A Cinderella Story, a contemporary romantic comedy with Hilary Duff in which he plays her Prince Charming. It looks as if his own Cinderella story may have a happy ending. He's purchased his own home that he shares with his cat Jack and his dog Joe. "I'm still basically a hermit. I really only go out to work or for coffee with some really great friends I made during the first couple of weeks I was in L.A." "I'm not complaining. I really love what I'm doing." "I still look in the mirror and see a nerd, so getting these roles in which I get the girl is a real great fantasy for me." Source: calgarysun.com
