Modals - special verbs - Always base form (V1) 1) Can = be able to - יכול 2) Must = have to - חייב 3) Should = ought to - צריך, כדאי 4) May, Might = a. מותר, b. עשוי, עלול A. Can: Present- 1) can + V1 2) am, is, are + able to + V1 Past- 1) could + V1 2) was, were + able to + V1 Future- 1) --- 2) will + be + able to + V1 B. Must: Present- 1) must + V1 2) has/have to + V1 Past- 1) --- 2) had to + V1 Future- 1) --- 2) will + have to + V1 C. Should: Present- 1) should + V1, ought to + V1 Past- 1) --- Future- 1) should + V1, ought to + V1 D. May, Might: Present- 1) may + V1 2) might + V1 Past- 1) --- 2) might + V1 Future- 1) --- 2) might + V1
