Kylie calls police over death threat stalker By MIKE SULLIVAN Crime Editor POP superstar Kylie Minogue is terrified of a maniac stalking her — and desperate for him to be caught, a source said last night. Kylie, 35, alerted police in London after receiving 700 threatening letters. The source said: “She dismissed it at first but is now getting really concerned and looking over her shoulder.” Australian beauty Kylie contacted detectives about the letters, which all bore West Country postmarks. The source said: She is a typical Oz and the most down to earth girl you could wish to meet. But this b*****d is really getting to her. She is very frightened about what is happening. To begin with the letters were just like ordinary ones from fans. But over the last few months this guy has been getting really aggressive. He’s a sicko and Kylie wants him caught bad. The letters have been sent to the offices of the singer’s record company EMI in Hammersmith, West London, and to Chelsea addresses in the area where she lives. Another source said: “The fact she has received 700 in just one year is disturbing. “They have been sent at the rate of almost two a day. “This is a very sinister situation.” The source added that Kylie realised that all celebrities were potential targets for stalkers. She had been chilled by the murder of TV star Jill Dando, 37, in April 1999. The co-presenter of BBC1’s Crimewatch UK was shot dead on her doorstep in Fulham, West London. Weirdo Barry George, 43, was jailed for life two years later. The source went on: “Kylie is very aware that being in the public eye means she will be the centre of attention with some cranks. “But this is quite different from the normal kind of things she gets. “She knows what happened to Jill Dando and the reality is that we live in a world where celebrity status can be dangerous. But this guy is totally deranged. “She knows that he is out there somewhere and wants him caught.” Earlier this week one of Kylie’s management team went to Fulham police station to report the threats. Officers have given the blonde beauty tips on security. A Scotland Yard spokesman said last night: “We can confirm an allegation of harassment has been received by Fulham police on behalf of a Chelsea woman. “An investigation is ongoing. “No arrests have been made and inquiries continue.” Forensic tests are being carried out on the letters. Saliva traces on the envelopes are being analysed for DNA by scientists. Kylie is currently dating actor Olivier Martinez, 37 — dubbed the French Brad Pitt. The pair met six months ago at a hotel in Los Angeles, soon after her ex-boyfriend, James Gooding, sold her secrets to a newspaper. In recent months, Kylie has had bodyguards at her side at public events. Last year she revealed how she was being followed by a stalker for the previous five years — but dismissed him as harmless. She said at the time: “He turns up at loads of my shows and even manages to find out where I’m shopping sometimes. It’s been on and off for five years but I haven’t seen him around for a while.
