World Origami Day – October 24th
This is the first WOD and will become an annual event. October 24th was chosen as the Day because it is the birthday of Lillian Oppenheimer, who introduced origami to the USA in the 1950's. The WOD website says: "Expose people to origami, one by one, room by room, and group by group. Fold on the train, fold in your office, fold on a park bench, fold in Starbuck's or a bookstore. Teach a class in your local school, senior center or church (or synagogue or mosque). Bring models to work, leave models in the supermarket, set-up an exhibit at the library." In other words … show people who don't know origami the beauty and magic of our art. Maybe do it together with an origami friend. Origami people all around the world will be folding in public situations on and around October 24th. PLEASE JOIN THEM! And …please use this forum to tell us what you will do and what you did!
