קצת על שאלות WH
ברב המקרים אחרי מילת WH יש צורך בפועל עזר. יוצאות הדופן הן השאלות על נושא המשפט (מי או מה שהפעולה של המשפט רלוונטית לגביו). דוגמאות:
Statement: Yael met Guy. Questions: Who did Yael meet? Who met Guy? Statement: Yael is doing her homework. Questions: What is Yael doing? Who is doing her homework?
כך שהקטע של ה-be לא קשור לשאלה עצמה, אלא לאיזה פועל עזר שייך לאיזה זמן:
Present Simple: do, does Present Progressive: is, am, are Past Simple: did Past Progressive: was, were Future Simple: will Present Perfect: have, has Past Perfect: had
