TEARS FOR DEARS - THE HURTING

כמה מילים על הצמד בתור הקדמה.... מקור השם TEARS FOR FEARS הוא שיטה לריפוי כאבים, מתוך ספר בשם PRIMAL SCREAM של ארתור ג´אנוב. כמו שרואים את ה"כאב" של הילד המצולם על העטיפה. הצמד, רולנד אורזבל וקורט סמית היו יחד בלהקה בשם NEON, עזבו והקימו את הצמד. קורט עזב את הצמד ב 1990, ורולנד המשיך לבדו תחת השם הקיים. הצמד מכר למעלה מ 17 מליון אלבומים ברחבי העולם ב 20 השנה האחרונות. האלבום הראשון של TEARS FOR FEARS ראוי לשירשור משלו. לא רק שהוא היה מהפכני באותה תקופה מבחינת הסאונד ה"סינטפופי" הפשוט והמיוחד, אלא שכמעט 20 שנה אחרי כן הוא עדיין נשמע מצויין ולא נופל מפקות מוסיקליות עכשוויות. האלבום הראשון The hurting הוא יצירה מופלאה, כדאי מאוד להתעמק במילים כי הם לא פשוטות. תיאורים פסיכולוגיים משהו, משפטים מורכבים.. המוסיקה מאוד מינימליסטית מצד אחד אבל (למוסיקאים שבנינו - שמש?..) כוללת כמה וכמה "שכבות" של צליל שלוקח זמן להבין את ההרכב המוסיקלי של השיר. השילוב הזה של הסינטפופ המתוק לכאורה והמילים הפילוסופיות הופך את האלבום הזה להיות יצירת אמנות של ה 80. אם הייתי צריך להיות מי שמחליט איזה סינגלים להוציא מתוך האלבום אני חושב שהייתי בבעיה גדולה.... כל שיר באלבום הזה הוא להיט.... לא סתם אני מתכוון לתת לאלכס מכות על זה שאין לו את האלבום הזה.... כמי שיש לו כמה אלפי דיסקים (ותקליטים), אם תשאלו אותי לעשרת האלבומים שאני עדיין אוהב, האלבום הזה יהיה ברשימה...... בשירשור הבא תוכלו לקרוא את מילות השירים ולקרוא מילה או שתיים על כל אחד. בכל שיא אנסה לצרף תקציר קובץ אודיו (באדיבות האתר של יאהו, מקווה שיעבוד...) תהנו..

כבר בשיר הפותח הצמד ממחיש את הכאב: "Touch the hurt and don´t let go. Get in line with the things you know. Learn to cry, like a baby - Then The Hurting won´t come back." הסינגל הראשון שיצא מהאלבום. הגיע למקום ה 3 בבריטניה באוקטובר 1982. משפט מחץ כמו - And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad - The dreams in which I´m dying are the best I´ve ever had לא משאיר אף אחד אדיש..... זה היה בעצם הסינגל הראשון שיצא לצמד אבל נכשל מסחרית, והצליח רק בהוצאתו השניה כסינגל השני אחרי Mad world. הגיע למקום השני במצעד הבריטי. How can I be sure ? הם שניהם ילדים שעברו טיפולים בסדנת שתיקה שמאד השפיעה על הכתיבה שלהם ועל השירים שלהם ובכלל Shout זה אנטיתיזה גמורה לטיפול שהם עברו. הם היו ילדים שהגיעו מבתים קשים וסולקו ממסגרות חבריות . השם שלהם הגיע מספר טיפול בשם : Arthur Janov´s primal scream therapy אלפא זה נכון שהם היו בלהקת Graduate לפני TFF ?

השיר מדבר על התיאוריה שהמוח הוא הסם בעל העוצמה הגדולה ביותר, והוא כלי עזר שמספק תגובת נגד לבעיות שלנו. אם רק היינו יודעים להשתמש בו נכון... הקול המדהים וסולו הסקסופון המצויין... אם תשאלו אותי, לכל מי שתוהה מה השיר האהוב עלי מהאלבום, ושל הצמד בכלל. איך השיר הזה לא הופיע כסינגל... איך.... שיר חזק, מלודרמטי, הקול של רולנד אורזבל נבלע בתוך המוסיקה, והמילים מתארות איך המחשבות והזכרונות יכולים להשפיע על קיומינו. זה השיר הראשון שהקליט הצמד יחד. It´s a sad affair When there´s no one there He calls out in the night And it´s so unfair At least it seems that way When you gave him his life And all this time he´s been getting you down You ought to pick him up when there´s no one around And convince him Just talk to him Cos he knows in his heart you won´t be home soon He´s an only child in an only room And he´s dependant on you And it seems so strange That at the end of the day Making love can be so good But the Pain of birth What is it worth When it don´t turn out the way it should

הגיטרות פה מזכירות לי מאוד את סגנון הנגינה של ג´וני מאר מהסמית´ס.... הסינגל היה השלישי מתוך האלבום, הגיע למקום הרביעי בבריטניה בפברואר 1983, והיחיד מהאלבום שהצליח גם בארה"ב. זה אולי השיר הכי "מופק" ומושקע באלבום. הסיום הדרמטי של השיר מתאים כל כך לסיים את האלבום. לסיכום......

האלבום הופיע בהוצאה מחודשת ב 1999 עם 4 בונוסים: PALE SHELTER MAD WORLD CHANGE שלושתם בגירסאות ה 12" המקוריות, ו... THE WAY YOU ARE, במקור צידו השני של הסינגל CHANGE אם אינני טועה.

לא שמעתי עדיין את כל השירים

של The Hurting אבל אני מקווה להשיג אותו בקרוב . בכל מקרה מהשירים ששמעתי זהו דיסק מופתי של הלהקה . בזמנו אני הוקסמתי מהאיכות של Change, זה נראה לי כמו יצירת פלא.
