Ra'anana Railway Station
?Does anybody know when the train will enter Ra'nana I recall reading somewhere there will be a Ra'anana Station on the coastal line on the Western border of Ra'anana. Will there also be a connection with the Kfar Saba line, or a light railway connecting the cities? When are they planned for? I will be happy for any answers. Eric.

The stations you are referring to will be opened together with road number 531 will be build as a feeder road to the cross-israel tollway starting south of Sh'faim and extending westwards to the corss-israel highway (road number 6) going south of Ra'nana and Kfar Saba. The railway will be built in the meadian between the opposite lanes of traffic. The contract for this (quite expensive) road is yet to be published for bid. You can probably find information about the road on the MA'ATZ (public works dept.) website.

Thanks for your reply. That sounds like a long term plan. Will there also be a stop on the current Tel Aviv - Haifa line at the western city border of Raanana. At some kibbutz if can remember correctly....Does anybody know?

It isn't really Ra'ananna per se, but rather on the very western edge of the city. As such, it will probably have limited benefit as the Ra'anannites will have to drive or take a bus there (at least 15 minutes overhead). Similarly to the positioning of the Kefar Sava-Hod Hasharon station, for most people, it only makes sense for the daily commute, and even then it is only a marginal improvement (if any) on taking a direct bus or driving.

Thanks for your note. Do you know when the Shefayim-Raanana station will open?

This issue was raised by Ra'ananna Mayor Bielski, and discussed about a year ago. Since then, I haven't seen any reports about new developments.
