pumping and let-down

Hi Esther, I have started making a stock of milk because I will be going back to work in September. WHen I pump, I dont feel the let-down reflex, which I feel when Yagel nurses/ How do I make that happen? Thanks Yael

Activating let-down

either roll your nipples between your fingers to activate the oxytocin, or massage the breasts with your fists in a rolling motion from the back of the breast towards the nipple. express one or two drops adn this should start the flow. which pump are you using? Does it hurt? are you nervous while you are pumping?

hi

i'm using the avent hand pump it doesnt hurt at all/ i get a good stream but it slows quickly not nervous.....

avent hand pump

In order to get the maximum from that pump, you have to pump S-L-O-W-L-Y. squeeze the handle, count to three, then release it. If you pump too fast, you just don't get the milk out as well. switch sides often. Rescue remedy will also help MER ( Milk ejection reflex).
