plugged ducts (long) a

My baby is 4 and a half months old. 3 weeks ago I returned to my full time job. I work about 9.5 hours a day. During this time I express milk. I pump at 10am, , 12pm and 2pm. When I get home around 5:30pm I breastfeed my baby. The problem is that I get plugged ducts (always on my right breast). I didn´t have it before I started working, because my baby was draining the breast compeletly. I don´t get it during the weekends when I only breastfeed and I don´t need to pump. SO my guess is that I am not pumping right, or not draining the milk compeletly. I am using avent isis manual pump, and I am able to express approx. 7oz from both breasts together. I rented the lactina from the la leche league in my area, but it only made the situation worse, and I was able to pump less milk (5 oz from both breasts). Do you have an idea what to do? i hate pumping, i hate even more doing it during work hours. and i hate the pain the plugged ducts cause. I already had mastis once. don´t want to get it again. please help

PUmping has a technique

and like anything else, you can do it correctly or incorrectly. First of all you should try to create a release of milk by massaging and rolling your nipples before pumping. When you see some milk come out, that is when you start pumping. 1. Place the pump so that the nipple is right in the middle of the hole of the flange. Do not press the pump hard against your breast because that stops the flow of milk. 2. Pump on the first side until the flow stops, and then go to the other side and pump until the flow stops. 3. Repeat step 2 until no milk comes out. If you are using the Isis, make sure that you are not squeezing the handle too fast.....count to 3 then let go and squeeze again. While pumping, you can move the flange in different directions to drain different areas of the breast. If you use the Lactina correctly, it should do the job. single pumping is preferable over double. Let me know how it works.
