OMG!!!!!!!!!!! I MET NICOLE!!!!!!!!
AND SAW DOGVILLE!!!! OH,MY, GOD!!!!!!!!! Pictures will be coming shortly, here's a story that I wrote (I am SO sorry it came out long, I tried to edit it but there was just so much to tell). Hope u read it!!! First of all - you should know that this was the first movie I EVER went to see by myself. All chances were against me. Rainy day, weekend (all that means to me is local stops on the subway), going alone to see a 3 hour SOLD OUT film in the NYFF. So things could only get better. And they did. I came to Alice Tully Hall (Lincoln Center) at approx. 6:30, a MINUTE before it started raining and lined up after a group of other freaks who have been waiting for tickets to be cancelled ("released") from noon time. They were holding signs that said "LOOKING FOR DOGVILLE TICKETS, TONIGHT 8:30 PM". I was person #14 in the line and started chatting to a woman in front of me who said she'd gotten tickets the exact same way to "Mystic River" the previous day (that film opened the NYFF). As we were standing there, security started building up red carpet & barracades & press "curtains" including the poster to the film. THEN I noticed a huge group of photographers, who were sitting right next to us. The photographers were just whining about other photographers usually come and scream at Nicole. LOL. They were then discussing her poses and how she always used to pose with her head looking down, but as they said "It got better". The photographers then moved to the red carpet to take their places, while other people started lining behind me. I made friends with the guy who was standing behind me and we decided to try to get tickets together. The over an hour wait wasn't as bad when you have someone to talk to! At 7:45, a security guard came outside and asked for 5 people from the "cancellation line" to go inside. We were bummed since we thought this is it. At the same time, the previous movie ended, and everyone who came out and saw the red carpet and the photographers started lining up around it to see the movie stars. I already knew Nicole was coming and I had to choose between standing in line hoping to get a ticket or trying to squeeze in the huge groups of people to get a glimpse of her walking on the red carpet. Believe it or not, I chose the movie. I waited in line and they came outside to call the next 5 people. The guy and I became #4 and #5 in line. We were outside the doors, paralel to where the red carpet ended. We saw Lauren BaCall and Chloe Sevigny walking in. Then - WE WERE CALLED INSIDE TO GET TICKETS. We were SO excited. Tickets were only $15 as opposed to $30 yesterday for the opening. We went back otuside to see if we could mayyyyyyybe see Nicole. Next thing you know, we find ourselves in front of the barracade, with no one standing in front of us, and an officer standing BEHIND us telling everyone else to get out of there. Suddenly, everyone started SCREAMING and I mean YELLING! "NICOLE!!!!!!!! NICOLE!!!!!!!!" The photographers above all. They went mad. They started yelling at her "WHAT'S GOING ON??? TELL US!!!!" and she kept smiling. I thought it would be real quick and took out my camera. Next thing you know, I have 50 pictures on my camera - first one taken at 8:05pm, last one at 8:18. That's how long she spent RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. Most of the pictures I have are of her back (LOL) because she was talking to the media. Billy Bush from AH and this one guy from Extra were interviewing her ON the red carpet while everyone else she had to walk to. She kept talking to the press who were across from where we were standing, and then the guy and called her. She turned around and smiled and started waving at us. A guy who suddenly appeared next to me and had a pen and a paper in his hands said to me "who knows". Then Nicole sees him and wants to come to sign his thing when her people are like "Wait, pose here". So she looks at our direction and goes "One second!" She poses to the cameras (turning back her head) and then comes RIGHT TO US! She signs his thing and I go "Nicole, you're amazing! Good luck!", the guy goes "You're gorgeous!" she looks at the two of us and goes "Thank you!", I then shook her hand, she smiled again and then entered the doors. Everyone walked away, BUT WE HAD TICKETS! So we entered the doors and we were walking right behind her! They took her to a press room to take some more photos, and we went to our seats. We figured they'd blow but WHAT DO YOU KNOW? The BEST seats in the freaking theater! If anyone's ever been to Alice Tully Hall - we were sitting in row J, seats 123 and 124. It's the CENTER of the freakin' theater! We were both not believing what's going on. Then it was 8:40 and a guy came on stage to present the film. Then he presents the ACTORS and they all walk on stage, Nicole being last of course to receive so much applauding! I didn't want to take a picture (flash) so I set my camera to take FILM and it DID! Ahhh!!!! As for the film - OH MY GOD. 3 Hours that passed like 1, absolutely NOT what I'd expected from Lars Von Trier. So many comic moments that just don't fit him that were such a fantastic addition to this tragic, cynical, dark portrayal of society. I absolutely adored the film and EVERYONE who was in it. Including Philip Baker Hall, Lauren BaCall, James Caan and Patricia Clarkson who had maybe 10 minutes of a screen time each. Paul Bettany, Stellan Skarsgard and Chloe Sevigny were each incredible. The entire cast was freakin' SUPERB. As for Nicole? WOW. You'll think I'm biased, so I won't say another word. Just look at the reviews. She's unreal. I've only seen two Lars Von Trier movies before ("Breaking The Waves" and "Dancer In The Dark") who both had a very similar prespective (even though completely different stories) and I could definitely see it in "Dogville" as well, particularly in the middle of the film. However, the ending was SO much different than how the other two films ended that I was just shocked. Completely didn't see it coming. The movie is so thought provoking and interesting. The cynicism in it comes from a mind of a genius. His writing is brilliant. He also directed and filmed the movie in an extremely unique way which I thought would be annoying at first but it became an inevitable part of the film. MUST SEE, A++++. Brilliant. OH! And when we walked out, we got an invitation for a free screening for....... COLD MOUNTAIN!!!!!!THIS Tuesday!!!!!!! *DIIIIIIIIES*
