mother milk and toddler

Dear Esther, My baby is 1.5 years old and the numbers of breastfeeding per day is between 2 to around 10 (depends if im around or not). I have noticed that even in times when he is hardly eating solids (when he is ill, for instance) but being breastfed frequently - he still has a respectable amount of Kaki. It makes me wonder what exactly is he getting there from my milk. Could you refer me to scientific information about the nutritional value of the milk in that stage as well as the quantity (i dont pump so i have no clue) ? Thanks a lot

Your milk at this stage

still has very strong antibodies which protect your baby from diseases in his environment. even if you are separated from your baby, such as when he is in daycare, the bacteria which are present in his environment cling to his hair and clothes. When you come to pick him up, you breathe in those bacteria and immediately your body starts to produce antibodies so that the first feed is an immunization for your baby. Here is an article which describes the advantages of breastfeeding older babies.

But apart from antibodies

No doubt about the antibodies, but whar about nutritional components ? for example, does he still gets vitamines? i also asked about the quantity of milk produced at this stage, do you have any idea? a

Nutritionally, it is still the best

milk for your baby until he weans himself. He does need other foods at this stage, but instead of giving him "junk milk" such as all those gamadim, or baby yogurts, your milk is still the healthiest for him. It is a healthy drink and snack for him.
