Mail to Isr. Railways proposed idea
Hello friends, here is a mail I have sent to IR and I would like to know what you think of my idea... If it was already proposed, let me know. Please excuse me that I am writing in English. My written Hebrew is not the best ("aleph" "ayin", "chet", "chaf", etc.) And I still don't have everything on my computer, so I am asking for your understanding. Thanks. To the Israel Railways team shalom, may I propose you an idea: Soon you will be completing the passenger line to Dimona. As it will be the southernmost passenger station on the IR network for a while and on the Center-Eilat route I propose a rail-bus connection to Eilat which I sense has a great potential. Details: - One can buy a ticket to Eilat at every station on the IR network. - Transfer point to the buses / to the train (from Eilat) is in Dimona - Buses depart, when trains arrive. Buses have to keep a tight schedule when coming from Eilat in order to arrive at time in Dimona. - The bus ticket Eilat-Dimona is a train ticket. - The bus connection appears in the train timetable. Connection is integral part of network. - A reservation is necessary as in every bus to/from Eilat. - It should be possible to make the reservation online. Why the rail-bus would be competitive with common buses to Eilat: -Common buses make at least two stops (Ein Hazeva, Huzot Lahav in B. Sheva) for toilet and refreshment. If half the trip is by train, the passenger enjoys of course much more the trip and has the freedom to visit the toilet when he wants and to move his legs or eat/drink somethings or to read/work as he wishes to. - Most Eilat buses depart from Tel Aviv. Points north of Tel Aviv are badly served. The horrible Tel Aviv Central Bus Station is avoided. - From points north of Tel Aviv it surely takes less time to get to Eilat by train/bus. - It is more family friendly. - The low-potential station of Dimona has better frequency, thus my proposed idea could also improve the train frequency for Dimona resindents and visitors. I hope my idea can serve you in any way and I wish you all the best and thanks for improving rail services in Israel from year to year, David Rubinstein, Switzerland (soon Israel)
