Macau - las vegas?

I landed in macau yesterday, seem like little las vegas, anyways it funny, I bought the mandarin phrasebook, and as I was trying to guess what ppl around me say, I read the lonely planet and it said they speak cantonese, hehe and I didnt know why cant I understand even one word today I'll continue into china, should be good, macau ppl are nice, helped me a lot finding the place I wanted to sleep at.

i'v been in china for nearly 6 moths (in 3 different times) and i've been studying madarin for over a month, and i still can't understand a word they're saying!!!
