Live from the east coast of India

Hallo everyone, A month ago I asked you guys about sailing in India and Thailand. Well I've found on the internet that on January there's the Andamans Sea Rally-Yacht race from Phuket to the Andamans Islands and back. I arrived to Chennai (on the east coast of India) and bought a ferry ticket to the Andamans Islands, and I was intouch with the race orgenizers so I can join a yacht back to thailand. Everything was ready, the ferry to the islands (4 days of sailing) was planned to be today. Now I'm kinda "grounded" to the east coast, inside all of this mess. In Chennai (The city next to the village I'm in) there are about 2,500 dead. the village i'm in is very lucky-exept the first row of building on the shoreline, and most of the fishermen are missing-everything is ok. anyway-now, when it's all over i can say it was an "interesting" experiance. I'm glad it happend yesterday and not tommorow-while i'm at sea... Thanks to those who helped me with tips to my prior message. Bye for now. Asaf.

Luck and tsunami

Hi Asaf If you have been sailing out of the coastal waters, the tsunami would not be dangerous, as at the open sea it is rather low wave although traveling very fast. only when the depth of water is reduced the wave gets higher and dangerous. Anyway - hope you are well and remain well in the future! Meir
