Ken Jutsu Seminar

On the basis of the discussion on the Practice of Traditional Ken Jutsu that was /is being held on the Forum ,I would like to suggest a get together of SERIOUS Practitioners of Traditional Ken Jutsu.I suggest a nice Friday Morning at the Park Hayarkon-where the latest Forum seminars have taken place. The question is which Friday morning and if there is a DESIRE amongst the Practitioners.I suggest the holding of several demonstrations of the different Schools of Kenjutsu.Certain Katas etc, and Practice. Any ideas???? Such a get together is targeted also towards serious Kendo people.​

I don't see

a problem with that.Viewing the Demonstrations by the public is acceptable in my opinion.However the Practice of forms etc will be for Serious Practitioners only.​

The next 2 fridays are impossible for me to get to Tel-Aviv, but anything after that would definetely be up my alley. As some of your students with whom I was in contact in the past would testify, I had previous plans of getting to your classes, at least for getting a taste of the ryu. As I live up north, getting to Tel Aviv on a regular basis inherently contradicts my work (and family) agenda. However, such an activity on a Friday could definetely be a great introduction. If applicable, I would be happy to demonstrate, or instruct, Iai techniques and kata, in this case, koryu kata. Also, I would bring this info to the Kendo and Iaido groups, I can think of a few who would definetely be interested. Eyal. p.s. Which remind me, there is a koryu kata in MSDR Chuden called "yama-arashi". I imagine it originated from the same origin of KAR. Just wandered if you know this kata​

Welcome on board

So that you can make it we are looking at the 12th and 19th of December.The 19th would be fine cause it is symbolic,you know swords Chanukah and the lights of FREEDOM and KNOWLEDGE. So lets try the 19th which is the Eve of Chanukah. Friday the 19th of December the Eve of Chanukah. Start at 9:30 in the morning and will go untill lets say 13:00. Park Hayarkon near the bridge where all the lst Seminars have taken place.That should give everyone time to get home to light Candles. Eyal prepare a presentation perhaps the Yama arashi Koryu Kata or any other KORYU kata you fancy.I would like to see the Kata you mentioned. Shimon​

Announcing the upcoming KORYU

Seminar of Traditional schools of Ken Jutsu in Israel. FRIDAY 19th of December-PARK HAYARKON TEL AVIV.-near the wooden bridge. Starting 9:30 in the morning ending 13:00. Spectators invited to see the demonstrations. Practice period for practicing Kenjutsu and kendo people. What to bring .. Boken and Daijo(average 6 foot) and lots of Spirit. Insructors and /or senior Practitioners interested in making a Presentation of Kata or Techniques etc,please inform me . Waiting to hear from Ninjutsu schools, Kendo and any other Bujutsu people practicing Traditional Ken Jutsu. .

Large Staff,which can be five or more feet in length.When held at its center with the right hand,the lower end of the staff will hit the left hip.Known in general usage as a bo,or rokushakubo.​

Time frame for Kukishinden ryu demo

About five to ten minutes. Only a few kata with bokken, two with bo and one with bo and bokken

Limitations

Better to be said now ,so there will be no misunderstandings. No one!! will be alowed to take Movie/Video shots of the Seminar.Still pictures are O.K. We want to respect the basic code of ''THE RIGHT FOR A RYU TO KEEP ITS TECHNIQUES,IF THEY WILL SO, TO BE KEPT SECRET-AT LEAST NOT FILMED BY STRANGERS. Shimon​

A proposal

The veterans demonstrating told me that it is possible to demonstrate a kata that has HENKA in rokushaku-bo, ken-jutsu and tai jutsu. This kata is KOKU NO KATA. Acordingly we would be interested in getting a better understanding in you tai sabaki, as its principles look, for the uninitiated, similar to the sabaki we use

What ever they feel comfortable

showing to the public.Everyone has the right to show what they feel comfortable showing to the public.In Kaze Arashi Ryu we are very strict about what is or not shown to the public. We never show all the Taisabakis of a particular Technique.For example each Technique has ten basic Taisabakis.We never show a single technique done from all the Taisabakis to the public.Also each Technique done from the different Taisabakis are different.The principles of the technique are the same but the external form of the techniue is different.Then of course at higher levels of practice every technique and the different forms are to be done from all the ten basic Taisabakis.Then after that there are endless possibilities of combinations etc.Kaze Arashi ryu at Menkyo is ONE ENDLESS KATA.Actually all the curriculum of KAR from the begining on, are just parts taken from the KATA .When one achieves MENKYO level he sees the connection and flow of all the techniques he has ever learned and the ONE KATA of thousands of moves are understood. The same is true of all the different arts in the system.At Menkyo Kaiden level all the ARTS -Kenjutsu, Jojutsu, Aikijujutsu, Tessen Jutsu, Naginata jutsu, Nagimaki jutsu, Tanto jutsu, etc become ONE.At that level katas that were used for the Katana are used for the Jo and Katas used for Tanto jutsu are used for Aikijujutsu etc. The whole system becomes ONE ENTITY.This I have come to learn at Moku Roku level and my Senseis have told me in preperation for my Menkyo. So by never showing a complete picture to an outsider they will never be able to learn the true essence of KAR.Therefore we are never alowed to show all the Taisabakis to a Particular technique.However I will be happy to show what I can.​
