Jerusalem line to be reconsidered?

Jerusalem line to be reconsidered?
According to this article, the express line to Jerusalem (via Modiin) will be reinvestigated. Does anybody know what is behind this? May the option A1 be abandoned for an alternative line along the old Turkish line, which is already being upgraded? I'd be grateful for your comments. Eric, i hope this sums up the picture: over the past year, the ministry of transport has been under a lot of pressure over the rail-lines to the capital, from various local elements (in jerusalem) which have their own agenda. this has been a point of dispute for several years, with pressure and counter-pressure every time any decision had been made. this has happened again and again, every time the minister was replaced (5-6 times in the past 4 years). right now, the minsitry has decided to recommend stopping the upgrade of the turkish line, and to re-examine the A1 option, as opposed to an alternative express option called G1, consisting of a tunnel from Beit Shemesh to jerusalem (clearly an inferior option). they have simply caved in! this recommendation may or may not be adopted by government. for one, the prime-minister is very much in favour of both lines (A1+ the upgraded turkish line), and has committed to both in the past; additionally, there will be a new mayor and city council in jerusalem in about 3 weeks, and hopefully the pressure on the ministry will be aleviated then. we are hoping the decisions are not reversed, but if they are, we are read to put up a fight, as we did in the past.
