Interesting place& man in Siem Riep
In Siem Riep - Cambodia there is a museum of a man named Aki Ra. The name "Landmine museum" is not even suggesting what it realy is. The place is a demonstratin of harmfull objects - mines, UXOs and so on, in order to warn people, especially children & prevent them touching such objects. It's also home to some children who are emputated by mine or UXO. There are some voulunteers there who teach english & other subjets (ee music) to those children and to some other poor children from the area. Mr. Aki Ra became orphand at the time of the Khmer Rouge regime, & was forced at the age of 5 to serve their army. at the age of 10 he was recruted as a soldier of the Khmer Rouge. short time after that the Vietnamy army invaded Cambodia &, Aki Ra was captured by them & got the coice to join then or be killed. He was with VN army 3 years till they left Cambodia. Then he joined the Cambodian army to fight the Khmer Rouge. Later on he started evcuating mines & UXOs as a soldier, and later as worker of the UN peace force. At that time 10-20 people a day were injured in the country by mines & UXOs. Aki Ra decided that he should help educating the people about this kind of objects & started collecting the defused objects for demonstration. He had a lot of that objects hidden in the jungle & looked for a place to desply them. he found a place he could buy, just near the main entrance to Angkor anciant cities and built the place all by himself. today he still evacuating dangerous objects all over Cambodia, voulenteering for the better future of his country.
