In order to change date of inductio

n to the army, what must one do? I have a student who is in the technical team in Israel and went to Korea with me. He got the best results there. Does anyone know of any way that he can move the date of his induction to the army - he's going in on November 19th. He's got a profile of 82 and the trick is to let him keep on training. Suggestions, anyone? He's very good at computers and a Dan 1 in Taekwondo. Thanks, Jessica.

אולי ישרת אזרח אחד במדינה טוב יותר - את עצמו. ההשתתפות שלו בתחרויות לא תתרום כלום למדינה או לאזרחיה. הוא יהיה מרוצה ואולי כמה חברים, מקורבים ובני משפחה. זו לא ממש תרומה למדינה.

I didn't realy understand what is the target. If to let him keep training, why it is necessary to change the date of induction? Anyway, I suggest what I did to keep on training (although it works just in the second half of my service). He can try to ask a krev maga instructor course. Once he got it, he can ask to have some time in the week so he can get a few hours vacation to go to his dojang "to maintain and improve his skills".

Cool - also a possibility. But we

have a competition in Germany in February, also in March and Korea in September. How can he come and compete if he is in the army 24/7? Suggestions? And Krav Maga is a good idea, how do we get around doing it?

היות והוא מתחרה טכני ולא קרבי (רק הקרבי מוגדר כספורט אולימפי), תהיה לו בעיה אפילו לבקש מעמד של ספורטאי מצטיין (גם כך רק בודדים מצליחים לקבל זאת). הסיטואציה של שירות ביחידה קרבית (שריון נכון?) לא מאפשרת עד כמה שאני יודע יציאה לחופשות מיוחדות בתדירות ובתזמינות נוחים (לא הייתי קרבי אז קשה לי להעריך). למרות זאת, אם הוא כבר הגיע לשירות כזה, אפשר לנסות לבקש לתזמן חופשות רגילות עם הנסיעות שלו. אם למפקדים שלו יש הבנה ואוזן קשבת, אני מניח שישנה אפשרות שהוא יצא לפחות לתחרות אחת. בכל מקרה, קורס מדריכי קרב מגע דורש הקצאה מהיחידה בה הוא משרת. לא לכולם נותנים, אבל אם הוא יבקש זאת בכל הזדמנות ויהיה לו מזל, הוא יצא.

and he was the best of all the Israelis in Korea. I hope that he'll be able to keep on coming to trainings, and definately to competitions, But we'll see. In any case, thanks a lot and be in touch!
