KYLIE Minogue has finally delivered the knockout punch to former lover James Gooding. After a year of dignified silence on her split from the womanising Gooding, Minogue has opted for harsh lyrical truths. Her new album, Body Language, reveals Kylie's search for strength amid a possessive relationship, teary nights alone, power games and insecurity. "I can count the times I cried myself to sleep," she sings on Obsession. "But now I'm so over you. "You don't need love/It's a question of obsession/So drawn to your own reflection/You want someone like a personal possession/To shine light on your perfection." Minogue, 35, has yet to fully explain the lyrics. She begins an intense promotional tour in Europe this week. Elsewhere on Body Language, Minogue recoils from broken promises and betrayed secrets. Earlier this year, commentators attacked Gooding for his sordid comments on Kylie, in which he claimed she was a manipulative party girl. But Minogue warns on a new track, Secret: "You can't kiss and tell . . . let the games begin. "Here's my secret/I'm a girl who likes my fun/If you can keep it/Then you just might be the one." On Promises, Minogue declares: "Forget the fact you lied to me/Unlocked my heart and threw the key/I'm so misunderstood." Then, with defiance: "Remember that I'm over you/I know that I will make it through/Hope you never forget it." However, Body Language is not all broken hearts and vengeance. In a candid memo-to-self, Red Blooded Woman shows a reluctant-to-love Kylie falling slowly but surely in love. Minogue's love affair with actor Olivier Martinez is reflected in romance tracks, sometimes giddy, mostly sincere. "You should have learned your lesson before/You've been bruised/You've been broken/Think before you go . . ." Minogue muses in Red Blooded Woman. The standout track, Chocolate, leaves no doubt about Martinez's role in restoring trust and mending Kylie's broken heart. "I never thought no-one could get me high again/I was not looking/I waited so long/I thought the real thing was a fake/I thought it was a tool to bring me down. "You proved me wrong again." Michael Gudinski, the music mogul who signed Minogue to her first record deal in 1986, said: "She is continually pushing artistic boundaries and she always has. She is an incredibly hard worker." Gudinski, who still owns Minogue's publishing rights, said Body Language is further proof of Kylie's talent. Body Language is to be released on November 17. There is no word yet on whether Minogue will tour this album.
