6 items added today: JETHRO TULL - A (CD)/SLIPSTREAM (DVD) 14th album from 1980, which started as an Ian Anderson`s solo project and eventually was released under JT name and also produced a new JT line-up, featuring multi-instrumentalist Eddie Jobson (of KC fame) and several Fairport Convention members. The album is rockier then most JT material recorded previously. The DVD release of `Slipstream`, previously available on Video, is a great companion to this reissue, as it was filmed during a concert supporting the `A` album. JT play some of the last album`s tracks and some of their all time favorites, with the usual skill and panache! SANTANA - SANTANA 1st album from 1969 by this sensational group led by guitarist Carlos Santana. Their elecrifying set at the Woodstock Festival (which is included here as bonus tracks) brought them fame even before the debut album was released later in the year. The unique combination of latin rhythms, rock and jazzy improvisations made Santana one of the best and most successful groups in the 70`s and the music stands the test of time formidably. SANTANA, CARLOS - DIVINE LIGHT This beautiful work of `Reconstruction & Mix Translation` by Bill Laswell of spiritual material recorded by Carlos Santana on two albums - `Love Devotion Surrender` with John McLaughlin (1973) and `Illuminations` with Alice Coltrane (1974) - is a true wonder. Laswell puts the two together, changes sequences and splices & concatenates, all with talent and vision, creating a piece of music that transcendents styles and traditions. A masterpiece! MOREIRA, AIRTO - FREE Brazilian percussion virtuoso Airto was discovered by the world when Miles Davis asked him to join his group and later Chick Corea included him and his wife Flora Purim in the first version of RTF. This 1972 album is his first true solo recording and considering the fact that the players include (among others) Chick Corea and Keith Jarrett on piano and Joe Farrell (another RTF member) on flute & sax, the result is exceptional. His percussion skills are featured extensively and the music is just divine. Absolute classic! FARRELL, JOE - MOON GERMS Joe Farrell recorded this album (1972) while being a member of Chick Corea`s RTF, and the influences are very evident on this truly superb recording. Although Herbie Hancock takes the piano chair, Stanley Clark (from RTF) is playing bass and brilliant Jack DeJohnette holds the sticks. Farrell also shows his remarkable skills as a composer, as all the tunes are penned by him on this album. Delightful! STEIG, JEREMY - FIREFLY Flutist Jeremy Steig, although not very popular, is a pioneering figure in the Fusion field and his many groups featured some of the best players in the genre. This 1977 album shows his gentle and melodic side (as opposed to some avant-garde recordings he did) and his remarkable technique as a player. Accompanied by such great players as John Scofield, Hiram Bullock, Steve Gadd a.m.o, he creates a very pleasant and relaxed album. =========================== Many titles back in stock! =========================== Have Fun!
