Focus – 3/ Jan Akkermann – Aranjuez סוף סוף מגיעה סנונית מהקטלוג המוקדם של פוקוס, ההרכב ההולנדי הכי מצליח של עידן הפרוג, לאחר שאלבומיהם נעלמו מהמדפים. בנוסף הגיע אחד מהאלבומים של הגיטריסט שלהם יאן אקרמן- אחד המופלאים האמיתיים של דורו שכל נגיעה שלו על המיתר הייתה שקולה באמצע שנות ה-70' לסתימת החור בסכר של אותו ילד הולנדי מהמיתוס המפורסם. דרך החור הזה התחיל לנזול שיעמום... . צפו בקרוב גם לאלבום הסולו המצוין שלו "פרופיל" מ- 1973)) Tomorrow חזר למלאי אלבום האולפן היחיד של אחת מלהקות הפסיכדליה הבריטיות הנפלאות של סוף שנות ה- 60'. סטיב האו אחראי כמובן על ששת המיתרים.... . GOV, GIDI ~ 40:06 2nd album from 1983. A natural follow up to his debut, this album was also almost entirely written by Yoni Rechter, with a few songs by Avner Kenner (with whom Rechter cooperated as 14 Octaves). More of the wonderful, romantic, sophisticated and jazzy tunes, performed flawlessly, with great musicians in the background. By that time Rechter was already established as the best and most prolific Israeli composer and his craftsmanship is here for all to see. Gov performs with feeling and humor, making this another superb album. RECHTER, YONI ~ INTENTIONS 1st album from 1979. After Kaveret disbanded, Rechter developed his solo career as a composer, arranger and performer (in Kaveret there was no space left for his compositions, since Danny Sanderson - who was immensly prolific - wrote most of the band`s songs). His love for jazz and classical music and his deep knowledge and amazing talent soon established him as the best Israeli composer of the young generation. On this debut album he established his life-long partnership with Eli Mohar, a wonderful lyricist and a great musician. The material is wonderful all through - beautiful, well crafted and superbly performed. A classic. TUNED TONE ~ TUNED TONE Only album from 1979 by this trio, which is quite similar to the `No Names` trio from a few years back, with two musicians from `No Names` (Levy & Ydov) and the guitar player and singer Itzhak Klepter (from Kaveret). All three musicians contribute as composers, making this album a fine collection of great songs, many of which became Israeli classics in time. A few additional musicians participate as well (mostly drummers) to create one of the most memorable Israeli albums. LEVI, SHEM TOV/GRONICH, SHLOMO ~ FAMILY ALBUM A wonderful album from 1983 on which two of the most gifted Israeli players and composers cooperate again (they were members of the `No Names` trio). The album examines the musical roots of both musicians, incorporating some folk melodies into the intricate music. The instrumental pieces are really Progy and the level of performance is excellent. One of the best Israeli albums of all times. And now some US classics: IRON BUTTERFLY ~ HEAVY 1st album from 1968 by this revolutionary US group, which shaped the future of Rock as we know it. Great composers and terrific players, they crafted a wonderful combination of the Psychedelic sounds with some heavier riffs, exploring for the first time what was to became later hard rock. Although some critics tend to ignore their compositions as shallow, a careful listen (and retrospect) really shows they had a lot to say. A classic of the genre. IRON BUTTERFLY ~ IN-A-GADDA-DA-VIDA (DELUXE EDITION) 2nd album from 1968 and one of the anthems of the rock generation. The 17+ minutes title track (entire second side of the LP) was truly revolutionary, introducing a hypnotic riff and a long drum solo, that would have been unthinkable on record before. Althouugh the title track is the most famous of their tunes, the shorter tunes are all superb as well, with great cooperation between the keyboards an the guitar. Bonus material includes a live version of the title song as well as a single version. An absolute classic! LOVE ~ LOVE (DELUXE EDITION) 1st album from 1966 by this superb US group. Pioneers of the West Coast sound and genious singwriters, they had a strong cult fllowing not only by their fans but also by many fellow musicians, who appreciated and often envied their talents. Led by Arthur Lee (one of the most idiosyncratic and enigmatic talents of the 1960`s) they also had another terrific composer in Bryan MacLean. The debut album is a bit raw, but all the signs of greatness are already there. This edition includes the entire album in mono and stereo version as well as bonus tracks. A classic! LOVE ~ DA CAPO (DELUXE EDITION) 2nd album from 1967. With some additional musicians Love create here a Psychedelic opus, dedicating the entire second side of the LP to one improvised piece 19+ minutes long - an unprecedented step towards modern rock. The shorter songs on the first side on the LP are all brilliant, typical of their capability and a foresight to the next album, which would top anything done in rock music beforehand. This edition includes the entire album in mono and stereo version as well as bonus tracks. A classic! LOVE ~ FOREVER CHANGES (DELUXE EDITION) 3rd album from 1967 and one of the finest rock albums of all times. A superb collection of songs with brilliant strings and brass arrangements - years ahead of their time. This album remains to be a favorite both among the fans and the critics and is a never-ending sonic experience. Unfortunately this was to be the last album by the original band.
