5 new items added today, all of which go directly to the SALE offer: BLODWYN PIG ~ LIVE AT THE LAFAYETTE Blodwyn Pig were formed by Jethro Tull original guitarist Mick Abrahams after he left the group following the recording of their debut album. Mick wanted to stick with the blues and his new group was to be his vehicle just for that. Blodwyn Pig recorded two superb albums in the early 1970`s and then Mick kept the group alive up to this very date with various line-ups. This live recording from 1993 shows perfectly how great Mick`s guitar playing still is 20 years later. Former Jethro Tull drummer Clive Barker also plays here. ABRAHAMS, MICK / BAND ~ LIVE IN MADRID Original Jethro Tull guitarist Mick Abrahams left to form Blodwyn Pig and then the Mick Abrahams Band in 1973. This live recording from 1974 captures the group playing what they know and like the best - electric blues. Mick`s virtuosity is in the forefront at all times and his 16+ minutes version of Cat Squirrel is an easy contest to Mr. Clapton. Surely one of the best ever UK blues guitarists gets the exposure he deserves. CHICKEN SHACK ~ POOR BOY IN CONCERT 1973 & 1981 Led by legendary blues guitarist Stan Webb, Chicken Shack were one of the pivotal UK blues bands in the 1960`s along their contemporaries Fleetwood Mac. After the original line-up fell apart, Webb kept the name of the group alive up to now with different line-ups, always playing the blues in his very special way. His virtuoso playing and soulfull singing are his trademarks and he is always faithful to the blues tradition. WEBB, STAN ~ BLACK NIGHT Legendary UK blues guitarist, singer and founder of Chicken Shack ( one of the most importand UK blues groups in the late 1960`s) is caught here live playing some of the most heart-breaking blues you`ll ever hear. A mastrful player and a true blues scholar Webb is always a source of inspiration and admiration. This is blues as it should sound! STEELEYE SPAN ~ TEN MAN MOP 3rd album from 1971 by this best ever UK Folk / Prog group. Along with Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span practically defined the genre. The group included some of the finest British players and singers let by the sensational Maddy Prior, whose hounting performances on this album count among the highlights of the genre. 7 new items added today, all of which go directly to the SALE offer: HOOKER, JOHN LEE / GROUNDHOGS ~ HOOKER & THE HOGS This 1965 recording of the US founding father of modern blues and the young UK musicians is a piece of history. Hooker and Groundhogs met a year earlier during his 1964 UK tour when they replaced John Mayall`s Bluesbreakers who were supposed to play with him but couldn`t make it. The cooperation worked out so well that Hooker came back the following years to record with Groundhogs. This meeting explains the roots of the UK blues revival which was phenomenally strong in the mid and late 1960`s. GROUNDHOGS ~ WHO SAID CHERRY RED? Led by guitarist / vocalist Tony McPhee the Groundhogs were one of the most creative UK blues outfits. They released a string of ephonymous albums in the late 1960s and early 1970s, which are still considered as masterpieces. This live recordings from the 1970s show how good the group was at the peak of their career. The material includes tunes from their albums Blues Obituary and Thank Christ for the Bomb. GROUNDHOGS ~ HOGGIN THE STAGE Led by guitarist / vocalist Tony McPhee the Groundhogs were one of the most creative UK blues outfits. They released a string of ephonymous albums in the late 1960s and early 1970s, which are still considered as masterpieces. This live recordings from the 1970s show how good the group was at the peak of their career. The material includes tunes from their album Split. MAGNUM ~ ARCHIVE British Prog band Magnum is one of those strange stories in the music world. Although immensly popular in Europe, they never managed to make it across the Atlantic, which of course limits their popularity. Started in 1978 they released a long string of great albums and keep performing to this very day. This album is a selection of their best material from their early 1970s material. A great introduction to the band. MAGNUM ~ UNCORKED A collection of tracks from the 1990s albums by this veteran OK Prog group, which although relatively little known has a lot to offer. The band includes some incrdible musicians and their lead singer Bob Catley is one of the strongest and best voices of the genre. Very good introduction to the second period of the band`s career. MAGNUM ~ INVASION This 1982 live album by Magnum captures the band at the peak of their performing powers after several superb studio albums. They perform some of the best material from their studio albums and the performances are top notch. The skills of the band members are well reflected here, as are the powerful vocals by Bob Catley. MAGNUM ~ STRONGHOLD This live album recorded in 1997 documents the reunited Magnum at full swing. They perform brilliantly material spanning their entire career of 20 years and numerous albums. All their memorable songs are included here from the debut album till their last 1996 release The Last Dance. Considering the fact that many sale items are "flying out the window" the minute we post them, here are another 9 new additions - all at the SALE price: FLEETWOOD MAC ~ LIVE AT THE MARQUEE This 1966 live recording at the legendary London club is the earliest known recording by this seminal UK blues band. Recorded before the first studio album and even before the final line-up was crystalized, we can hear Green, Spencer and Flieewood playing their hearts out. The recording is pretty lo-fi, but considering the historic importance of this material nothing else matters. This is history in the making. HARTLEY, KEEF / BAND ~ NOT FOOLISH NOT WISE After a long stint at the drum chair with John Mayall Bluesbreakers, Keef Hartley formed his own band in the early 1970s and recorded several outstanding albums. The band included the regular blues core (with lead guitar) but also a superb brass section, creating a very powerful sound. This albums presents for the first time some live material recorded in early 1970s and including tunes from the first two albums. DUMMER, JOHN / BLUES BAND ~ NINE BY NINE The John Dummer Blues Band was one of the first British young electric blues outfits that sprang up in UK as the result of the blues revival in the mid 1960s. The band included many members which were to become prominent in later days. This album is a reissue of an extremely rare early album by this band. Sound is lo-fi, but the music is spirited and gives a fascinating glimpse at the early UK blues movement. SAVOY BROWN ~ LOOKING FROM THE OUTSIDE This is a collection of previously unissued live tracks recorded in 1969/70 by one of the finest UK blues outfits of all times. Led by blues gitar virtuoso Kim Simmonds and featuring one of the finest UK blues singers Chris Youlden, Savoy Brown recorded a string of excellent blues albums between late 1960s and mid 1970s. The group was recently revived by Simmonds and is still active (see their recent albums on this site). SAVOY BROWN ~ JACK THE TOAD This is a collection of previously unissued live tracks recorded in 1970/72 by one of the finest UK blues outfits of all times. Famous for their double lead guitar line-up and their memorable tunes with extended themes and tempo changes. The group re-united in the 1990s and still enjoys a strong fan base around the world and tours constantly. This 1999 live recording shows them at their best playing many of their old favorites the way only they can. BROUGHTON, EDGAR / BAND ~ CHILLY MORNING MAMA UK rock band Edgar Broughton Band were as legendary and revolutionary as bands get. Considered by many as the forefathers of Metal and Punk, they were always controversial and bittery anti-establishments. The music was rough and the lyrics plainly abusive (or what was considered abusive then). This live recording catches them at the peak of their 1970s days playing material from their 3 first albums. BOLAN, MARC ~ MARC BOLAN Marc Bolan was a superstar in the 1970s. Not only was he the dishiest guy on the scene, but he could write a decent tune more often then many others and play some nifty guitar licks. He led his T.Rex through a string of immensly successful albums and continued to record solo album after the group disbanded. This album collectes some of the rarest tracks he recorded, which were impossible to find before. Quite a discovery. ====================== Have fun! Some incredible musicians take part in this recording, including Wakeman`s buddies from Yes: Chris Squire, Bill Bruford and Steve Howe. For Yes fans this is quite a treat. Their music was always well developed and the lyrics meaningful, as opposed to most of their conteporaries. This album catches the group at the peak of their creative activity and documents the 1986 tour. Sound quality is superb and so is the music. KALEIDOSCOPE ~ THE FAIRFIELD PARLOUR YEARS The UK group Kaleidoscope (not to be confused with the US group of the same name and same period) were one of the most fascinating and enigmatic psychedelic / Prog outfits ever. After one album under this name they changed the group`s name to Fairfield Parlour and released another superb album called From Home To Home (included here). They also recorded another album, which was a superbly written rock opera called White Faced Lady, but it was never released and this is the first time it is available in this set. A true gem! =========================== Please note that the item below is back in stock after being out of print for almost 3 years! So many of you asked about this and here finally it is back: MORTE MACABRE ~ SYMPHONIC HOLOCAUST This is a special project made by the Swedish Prog super-group, which includes members from Anekdoten and Landberk. They play a series of soundtracks from `macabre` films, including the brilliant Kszysztof Komeda`s lullaby from `Rosemary`s Baby`. Very dark atmosphere, full of mellotrones of course. We round-up November additions with 7 delightful Prog items. First 2 new mini-sleeves, this time from France: ATOLL ~ L`ARAIGNEE-MAL 2nd album from 1975 by this band, which along with Ange were the most famous and celebrated French Prog outfits in the 70`s. Brilliant musicianship and quirky fire exchanges between the instruments resemble the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Pure delight! ATOLL ~ TERTIO 3rd album from 1977 by this band. Further development with more emphasis on the compositions and careful arrangements rather then the virtuosity of the players. Less fire then on the previous albums, but much more soul and sophistication. Still a true Prog classic. And next 1 forgotten classic: TIEMKO ~ CLONE 3rd album from 1995 by this French Prog outfit. In the 5 years since their previous album they went through some significant changes and added vocals for the first time. The tunes are shorter and more precisely defined, but the unusual tempo changes and heavy riffs a la KC are still here. In retrospect this stands the test of time very well and sound innovative even today. Now 2 hot new releases: CAST ~ NIMBUS Mexican Prog band Cast manages to produce a regular once-a-year new album since several years now, which is remarkable and considering the high quality of their output truly admirable. This 2004 release is a concept album consisting of a long suite broken into several sub-parts. The level of musicianship is excellent as always and suely Cast are one of the best conteporary Prog bands around today. TEN JINN ~ ALONE 2nd album from 2003. American Prog band Ten Jinn seem to be more popular in Europe then they are at home and for the second time they release their album on a Swedish label (and distributed by a French one). The music is very much similar to their debut album, which of course is excellent, as it was a masterpiece. This one is excellent in every respect as well and the similarity (stylistically only - mind you) to GG is amazing. Those complex vocal arrangements are a knock-out! Finally 2 hot new reissues: HANSSON, BO ~ MELLANVASEN (ATTIC THOUGHTS) 3rd album from 1975 by the Swedish keyboards wizard and composer Bo Hansson. Following the success of his previous albums, Hansson decided to pursue a more serious composing career rather then touring with his band. This album is much deeper musically then his predecessors, with much space for improvisations by the excellent musicians who participate here. Unfortunately (as expected) it was much less commercially successful. HANSSON, BO ~ EL-AHRAIAH (WATERSHIP DOWN) 4th album from 1977 and his last from the 1970s. This is definitely his most serious work ever, inspired by literature and poetry and full of remarkable and beautiful musical themes, excellently performed by the musicians involved. However this serious approach pushed Hansson even further away from his traditional fans, who were looking for a much simplistic music.
