8 items added today: TOUCH ~ TOUCH Only album from 1969 by this legendary US proto-Prog group. The music is strogly influenced by Psychedlic trends and introduces Prog characteristics, especially on the longer tracks. Some memorable tunes and great instrumental passages. In many respects this is truly visionary music, which will only come to full fruition a few years later by the great Prog groups. Considered as one of the fines examples of early US Prog. SPOCK`S BEARD ~ FROM THE VAULT 5th album from 1998 and a compilation of previously unreleased material spanning from 1992 to 1997. Of course in the case of SB, this is all wonderful stuff, regardless when or how it was done. It gives a glimpse into the creative process of developing a musical idea into its final form. No SB fan should miss these fascinating tracks! ECHOLYN ~ WHEN SWEET TURNS TO SOUR 4th album from 1996. Echoyn are considered one of the best US Prog groups ever. They recorded 2 brilliant albums (and an EP) in the early 1990´s, which are still regarded as some of the best albums of the genre. For their next (3rd) album they signed with a Major (Sony), who `locked` the album immediately after release. This was so frustrating for the band that they decided to call it quits, releaseing this collection of demos and unreleased material as a sort of protest. Fortunately they were to re-unite 5 years later! ECHOLYN ~ COWBOY POEMS FREE 5th album from 2000. The re-united Echolyn worked on this comeback album very hard and it was worth waiting for. In many respects Echoly can be considered as Gentle Giant`s `children`, considering the usage of vocal choruses and complex rhythm patterns. This is excellent music in every respect - warm, intelligent and always stimulating. A significant proof of the fact that Prog is alive and kicking in the 2000`s. ECHOLYN ~ MEI 6th album from 2002. Echoly not only refuse to die, but they continue to develop their mastery from one release to the next. This album is a magnificent opus, a tour de force of rare proportions. The entire album is one piece of music! No more separate songs, even if those were part of a concept album - this is the ultimate concept album. There is so much music here that rather then reading about it, just listen to it! WHITE WILLOW ~ IGNIS FATUUS 1st album from 1996 by this brilliant Norwegian Prog band. White Willow combine Prog with Celtic and Scandinavian elements with such grace and finese that the effect is breathtaking. Add to ut some early music and you have a music that withstands the bounderies of time. Fronted by wonderful femal vocals, they enchant and spell from one song to the next. Absolutely wonderful! WHITE WILLOW ~ EX TENEBRIS 2nd album from 1998. Even more refined and delicate then their debut, this is somewhat sombre, but wonderful music with dark ambient atmosphere and exquisit melodies. Anglagard`s drummer Mattian Olsson is the new member of the group and his touch is just right for this kind of music. It seems that Scandinavian Prog is somehow more moving and better done then most. WHITE WILLOW ~ SACRAMENT 3rd album from 2000. Slightly more complex then the previous release, the band manages to continue in the same direction, but come closer to the Prog genre, with longer pieces and more instrumental passages. The flute becomes more dominant and the atmosphere us less subdued. Nevertheless this is ever bit as brilliant as the previous album and lovers of Scandinavian Prog will enjoy this to the max!
