6 items added today: SHYLOCK - GIALORGUES 1st album from 1975 by this brilliant French Prog trio. The long and much improvised themes remind KC and many similar bands, but the music is centered around keyboard work by Didier Lustig and is very powerful and original. The bonus track are from 1981 and include just a keyboards-guitar duo. Considered as one of Prog`s most classic recordings. SHYLOCK - ILE DE FIEVRE 2nd and last album from 1978 by this great French Prog group. This time as a quartet (bass guitar added) the group becomes more jazz / rock oriented with very strong instrumental contributions by all members. Definitely a worthy companion to the debut album. IN SPE - TYPEWRITER CONCERTO IN D 1st album from 1985 by the most important Estonian Prog group led by the brilliant composer Alo Mattiisen, who also composed many contemporary classical pieces. This extraordinary music is full of passion and surprises, different from almost anything done before. It`s amazing that such music was allowed to be recorded in the USSR before `Perestroika`. A gem! QUIDAM - BAJA PROG-LIVE IN MEXICO `99 Polish band Quidam are the best Prog group in their country since several years. They play neo-Prog at its best: vibrant, complex, improvised and deeply melodic. Fronted by the amazing female vocalist Emila Derkowska, who sings both in Polish and English. This great performance was recorded during the Mexican Prog festival Baja Prog in 1999 and the vocals are in Polish, which is for the best. VARIOUS ARTISTS - PIGS AND PYRAMIDS: PINK FLOYD TRIBUTE There were many Pink Floyd tribute albums made in recent years, but this one beats all the others by far. The line-up reads line the encyclopedia of contemporary Prog and Rock, the instrumental work is fabulous and rather then a random selection of songs this album includes the entire `Dark Side` material in original sequence (and some `Wall` songs of course). A real treat! FOCUS - FOCUS 8 The legendary Dutch Prog band Focus disbanded by the end of the 70`s, so having in 2002 a newly recorded Focus album is a major event for the Prog community. Led by the original Focus leader Thijs van Leer and alas sadly without the talents of Jan Akkerman, this album finds the group in excellent form, taking up the tradition where the original group left it.
