Led by the keyboards wizard Keith Emerson and here as a quartet with David O`List on guitar. Amazing mixture of psychedelic rock / jazz and classical influences creates a unique sound unparallel to anything elso done at that time. This is visionary music and a classic album if ever there was one. NICE - ARS LONGA VITA BREVIS 2nd album from 1968 this time as a trio, which was to be its format till the group disbanded. Emerson expands the classical influences by including music by composers like Sibelius and Bernstein, those of course in his wild and masterly improvised versions, adding extended compositions of his own. All together an excellent companion to the debut album. NICE - NICE 3rd album from 1969. Pretty much continued from where the previous albums led to, with more interpretations of music composed by others, especially the beautiful `Hang On To A Dream`, and music composed by Emerson. Emerson`s playing is masterly and he switches between classical piano and organ with never a dull moment for the listener. NICE - SWEDISH RADIO SESSIONS These sessions from 1967 were recorded by the Swedish Radio before the first revolutionay album was released and they document the group as a quartet, playing material they have been rehearsing for the album as well as some tunes that never made it on the debut album, which of course makes it all more exciting. Considering the fact that there is so little material available by this group, this is a treasure. TEMPEST - TEMPEST 1st album from 1973 by this UK Prog group formed by Jon Hiseman after Colosseum fell apart. It includes Colosseum bassist Mark Clarke, guitar is handled by the brilliant Allan Holdsworth and vocals by one of the strongest UK singers Paul Williams (ex Juicy Lucy). A mixture similar to Colosseum of Prog / jazz / blues with virtuoso playing and a lot energy. A great album, sadly quite forgotten. TEMPEST - LIVING IN FEAR 2nd and last album from 1974. After Holdsworth (to join Soft Machine) and Williams left the group, the brilliant guitarist Ollie Halsall joined them and as a trio they recorded this album. It`s less jazz influenced then the debut, but still holds some great performances and fierce compositions which sound quite fresh even today. AMAZING BLONDEL - A FOREIGN FIELD THAT IS FOREVER ENGLAND Amazing Blondel were probably the most unique UK Prog group in all times, dedicated to playing ancient and medieval English music performed on the original instruments of the period and sung in amazing vocal harmonies. Their work was trully breathtaking. This allbum collects live recordings from 1972-1973 captured during the group`s European performances. An absolute must! AMAZING BLONDEL - RESTORATION A reunion album by this group from 1997, 22 years after they disbanded. Fortunately this amazing recording continues the tradition of excellence set by their original albums and there is no change or difference whatsoever. The same brilliant instrumental performances and vocal harmonies of elegance and charm. For lovers of medieval music this is truly an extatic experience. FLEETWOOD MAC - LIVE AT THE BBC An amazing collection of BBC broadcasts by this legendary blues group recorded between 1967-1971. Peter Green and Danny Kirwan handle the guitar parts brilliantly and this is a true blues fiesta. As usual the BBC recordings are of higher quality then studio albums recorded in the parallel period, which makes this album even more worthwhile. Not to be missed by any serious blues fan. KYRIE ELEISON - THE COMPLETE RECORDINGS A beautiful reissue project by the Israeli label MIO Records collecting all existing material by the Austrain Prog group Kyrie Eleison recorded between 1974 and 1978. The package includes 3 CDs worth of material with many never previously released recordings and live performances. A truly collector`s item. YES - LIVE IN PHILADELPHIA 1979 (DVD) Classic Yes lineup with Wakeman, Anderson, Howe, Squire and White playing some of the group favorite tunes in front of an extatic audience. Good sound and very solid performance which of course makes any Yes fan happy. Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound, 50 minutes. YES - KEYS TO ASCENTION (DVD) Classic Yes lineup with Wakeman, Anderson, Howe, Squire and White reunited in 1996 for recordings and concerts, which give us the 2 double albums of the same title. They play some of the group favorite tunes from all periods in a magificent setting. Dolby Digital Sound, 150 minutes. Have fun! http://www.jazzis.com/shop
