../images/Emo13.gif a volcanic question
Hey
i'm doing a paper about "Supervolcanos" and their claimit effects naturaly its mostly about Plinian eruptions but one thing triggers me- i've read that one of the most destructive volcanic activities the earth had known so far was actually a flood basalt it had wiped out more then 95% of all species about 250 million years ago! so how come the VEI(Volcanic Explosivity Index) dosent mention this type of activity at all? and how come these floods of lava are so deadly on a global scale? they dont trow any particles to the stratosphere like a Plinian eruption so what kind of a long term effect do they have on the earth? thanks and have a nice weekend
Hey
