why do they always send the poor? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here we are in Madrid... we played our first show in Spain last night... It's such a great feeling to be in a new country and feel people getting a new sense of our band as they're watching us for the first time. Joy joy joy... this morning we're flying to Denmark. How are you? Are you happy? Going with the flow? "Why don't presidents fight the war/ Why do they always send the poor?" That's the question System of a Down asks in their new single... B.Y.O.B. Their whole new album is incredible... so unique and so distinct and so relentless and so powerful... listen to it and then shake it out... it's good therapy. I'm thinking a lot about therapy this morning in terms of the war that's going on right now. What kind of trauma does a war cause to everyone who's affected by it? I keep thinking about how things spread... there was a time when there were no protests about wars... there was a time when John and Yoko hadn't said "war is over (if you want it)" I believe things will keep moving in that direction, towards peace, and open-mindedness, and harmony... I believe that because that has been the trend I've seen in my life and the life of my friends and in the world in general. Be the Change you Seek... good advice. If any of you have friends who are involved in the war in iraq, and even if you don't... you might want to check out this frontline documentary made in early march about soldiers returning from war with post traumatic stress disorders.
