מהאתר של civic http://civictour.honda.com/band/tour_diary_detail.aspx?dt=04_08_2005 Hello everyone. James here reporting from backstage at Radio City Music Hall here in NYC. It was a beautiful day on our day-off yesterday, spring is definitely in the air. I am always so excited when our tour passes through here. New York has been our band's second hometown, and is so important to our band's history. Just walking around here makes me sentimental. Yesterday, Adam and I went by the offices of Octone Records to say hi to the guys who decided to put out our record. We owe so much to those guys. It's so weird to be playing three nights at Radio City when the first time we played here, the only people in the audience were the guys at our record label's friends. So let me say thank you to Ben, David, James, Rebecca, Suggs and Civia for everything. Anyway, I digress. I think we've really hit our stride on this tour. Although we have pretty much been on tour for the last 3 years, each tour is unique in the way it feels. Our touring conditions have steadily improved since we started, and touring now is easier than it has ever been. When we began it was a van with occasional hotel shared between the five of us. Now, there's this giant touring fleet with trucks and buses that takes over these towns we enter. Adam has fully recovered from his injury which is great, but it means that I no longer get to do the jumps that cue the end of songs. Damn. I am really proud of the light show. . . Our lighting director Jason has become the sixth member of the band as he follows the ebb and flow of our set. We have a great backstage set-up with lots of activities, like summer camp. We have a "jam room" set up with instruments where we can play whenever we want. We've been working on some new ideas that will end up on our next record. Jesse and I have been working on some Bach duets as well. We have an excellent caterer, Nedra who is responsible for us eating better than we ever have. We also have a juice machine that I use every morning. I blend carrots, celery, apples, beets, lemon and some ginger. . . I know I am riveting you all with my juice recipes. The Donnas are now some of my favorite people in the world ever. It has been so great hanging out with them after the shows. Being able to pick the bands that are opening up has been another great thing about this tour. We are excited to have the Thrills come out for the second half of the tour, but The Donnas will be sorely missed.
