I am in detroit in a giant building on the river. I am listening to Devo. This song is called Uncontrollable Urge. I am looking out the window at this city which is safe from flood waters and storms. Once again we all find ourselves in the midst of something tragic. How are we connected to it? What can we do about it? I believe we are all connected to every thing. And so in some way the suffering of others is our own. And I believe there are a number of things we can do to help. They start simple and pure like just visualizing help and light and support and relief for everyone that needs it right now. Next, and more practically, money needs to be raised and donated. www.redcross.org/ And then on into the future... reaching out is a contagious thing... think about dominos. If we decide in the most immediate way to be concerned with the well being of others, then every day will open us up and inspire others to open up in the same way. I mean this in the smallest ways. Why not try to live like a saint? I wish that busses could have been sent down days before this hurricane hit to help the people that couldn't afford to leave or had no where to go. I wish that the spirit of helping other people out was the basis of our society. I wish I wish I wish, it's a good start. Just a start. Stay positive and productive. please. JESSE
