I'm Bored, what about you?...

I'm sitting here at work, I get off in about an hour, but there's nothing to do so I decided to come here and bug you guys a little bit. Soooo.... I was wondering - Do you speak as well as you write? I found out that when I have to speak English wish people I tend to lose my words a bit and sound stupid... how is it with you?... Also - you should check out this cool site, it has thousands (well, maybe not thousands...) of ways to annoy people. You can even find out how to be annoying in a Synagogue! That will come in handy in Yom Kipur.... Ha Ha.

me too...very bored

where's the site? i think u forgot to write it.... i remember when i was 15 i met a few american guys at a hotel and it was the first time i spoke in english and it was a mass!! i got confused and i'm sure i sounded stupid! but i got better and now i speak much better than i write i think it a matter of experience and confidence which i was lacking then

Silly me

Here's the adress: www.getannoyed.com As far as speaking is concerned, I tend to get confused and mumble things that sound like I'm a 6 year old trying to speak english. I think It's a matter of how confident you are, because when I think to myself my english is perfect, it's only when it comes to speaking with other people...

I sometimes lose my accent

But yeah, fumbling with words when I speak usually happens to me. But I think it also happens in Hebrew

right, confidence is

the key word. it's usually okay when you need to write. but talking... harder... for sure. I'm thinking of getting a few lessons for this, to get this confidence thing.

I don't think u need lessons

for that....just find some people to talk with and the confidence will come from itself

Umm...

People don't want to talk in English with me
that's why i'm here. and i want to improve my english. So i can consider moving to the USA. i'm wishing it.

you should get some new people ../images/Emo13.gif

I speak English freely, but when I write I use probably different words. You know what I mean? Writing and speaking are very different, and the daily use of English for me comes mostly from hearing it in TV shows, so the language and phrases that sticks to me is the ones from the shows. and when you write, you spend more time thinking about what you going to write, and the words doesn't come only from what you hear on TV, but also from the wide vocabulary you know. And I used to make people listen to me in English, when I felt I wasn't using it for a long time. I just spoke (or wrote, if we were talking over the interenet) English, they didn't have to speak back to me, but they usualy did. Cause as you probabaly know, there is a large amount of words in English, that are very hard to express in Hebrew. Tal.

u can chat with people on the web

this forum is great but i think that chatting with people from abroad is much better

About the confidence...

it's absolutely correct that it comes with experiment and time. i'm taking myself as an example: i'm working as a waitres in a coffee-bar where many foreign students visit. at first i used to tell them only things from the menu without too much talking. as i gained some confidence about my English i began to chat with them freely about everything. however the grammer in writing is much more strict, that's why i was glad to find this forum. Please correct me as much as you can, i'm here for that : ).
