I am interested

in finding out if there are others in Israel besides me who are Practitioners of a Traditional School of Ken Jutsu.A practitioner of a whole Ken Jutsu tradition. Also I am interested in finding out if there are in Israel besides me Practitioners of a school of JO JUTSU(not jodo).I am interested in crossing notes with these people and perhaps organise a joint Seminar.I will appreciate any help, as I am not aware of such individuals.I am not talking about Ninjutsu traditions. Thank you Shimon

ו-Jodo?

In general Traditional Ken jutsu schools were developed on the basis of Battle Field experiance.Samurai and Yama Bushi were Battle Field warriors and their Ken jutsu was originaly battle field oriented. This was not the case of the Ninja. They were assassins and their Ken jutsu was oriented towards their line of work-assassinations.I have nothing against them ,I just dont have anything in common with them. Jodo is part of the Budo of Japan .I am affiliated more with the Bujutsu of Japan.

To Sensei, a partial answer

As a long time practitioner of Kendo and Iaido (in which I also practice Koryu), and as secretary of the Israeli Kendo Federation, I have no knowledge of any groups or individuals practicing a sword or Jo Jutsu, other than K.A.R. The only person that comes to mind is Avi Nardia, who founded our Kendo federation some 12 years ago. Avi has a very strong background of Ju-Jutsu, and he also practiced classical and police style kendo in Japan, which are more aggressive and include Ju-Jutsu elements therein, thus he still combines them in his Jo and sword techniques. However, Avi has moves to the U.S. last year, where he teaches martial arts and combat techniques to police and swat teams. The one thing I can do in this regard, is perhaps get as early a notice as possible on his next visit here, and maybe we can arrange the seminar you have in mind. Also, naturally, please keep us (forum members) posted on any such events you may arrange in the future. Sincerely, Eyal.

Eyal,I thank you very much for your

response.I would very much be interested in meeting with Mr Avi Nardia. In the past, Kaze Arashi Ryu had not taken part in public Seminars. Its teachings have always been kept secret. However just recently in the USA there was a Seminar held where Several Traditional Ryu demonstrated several tech, from the different arts within their Ryu,and Menkyo Mark Raugas of K.A.R also took part in the Seminar. The report on this Seminar can be found at the link I will attach. As Head of the School in Israel I have been given the OK to take part in Seminars as well. The teaching of KAR to the public has been a Test project for the past 23 years.Henry Robert Villaire was given permission by Nishiyama Akihiro Sensei to be the first to teach it to the public. The project was a success. Today the Ryu is not in danger of being LOST. IT was in this danger after world war 11.Today there are around 10 Menkyos and Four Menkyo Kaidens.I am working towards my Menkyo ,at least this is what my Sensei is prepairing me for. Again thank you.

Have a nice day, Sensei

Very Interesting

That being the case ,I would find it very interesting meeting with anyone who is a Serious Practitioner of the Ryu you mentioned. My remarks were not made towards anyone Practicing Traditional Samurai swordsmanship even amongst the Ninjutsu schools.I am not a philosopher or historian and dont wish to be and am just interested in Practicing Traditional Swordsmanship.I would find a common interest amongst similar Practitioners.Thank you for your reply. It seems that your conclusion was correct. So far both Ninjutsu and others have mentioned that they practice parts or certain Katas of Ryu's other then themselves. It seems that the Ninjutsu schools practices more Ken jutsu then others but still not of their own schools but of other traditional schools.I am getting a clearer picture of things. KAZE ARASHI RYU is a Ryu in its own accord and has a complete Ken Jutsu curriculum of its own accord.I invite anyone practicing Traditional Ken Jutsu to make an appointment and we can get together.

Amir thank you

for responding. You are correct in your assumption.I was looking for Practitioners of Traditional Ken Jutsu Ryu's.So far it seems that there are none .Perhaps there is someone who is Practicing a KORYU secretly ,in which case we will never know. It seems that Ninjutsu schools Practice Traditional Kenjutsu, however as I understood from what has been writen above Ninjutsu schools learn Traditions which are not originaly Ninjutsu Traditions.I understand that there are schols of Nnjutsu that Practice certain Katas of different Ryu.It seems that Kaze Arashi Ryu is a Complete tradition of its own MERIT,and has its own ORigianl tradition. Never the less I would like to meet with these practitioners -since we do have in common Ken jutsu. I might take you up on the offer to call your Sensei. Thank you, Shimon

Hello Boaz

The upcoming Seminar is in Ken Jutsu -The Sword. I understand from what you have said ,is that you can show JO Katas and tech. Perhaps in the future we might organise a Jo Jutsu Seminar. Then it might be something to get involved in.Even though you dont work with the Sword nevertheless perhaps you might want to come and see the work we are doing in Israel with the Traditonal Ken Jutsu at the upcoming Seminar. Thank you Shimon
