Hello....
Hello everyone.
Just wanted to say hello, haven't been here for a while -- I'm in Asia with my girlfriend traveling. Since there's no point in talking about Asia here (this is not an Asia forum), I'll write about Asian alcohol! So far we've been to Cambodia and Vietnam. The bad news are -- they're so poor they can't produce high quality alcohol to save their lives, so their "whisky" and "wine" are, well... bad. The whisky is more like engine oil (surprisingly their rum and vodka taste the same
), and the wine (in Vietnam) is usually fruit wine (not grapes), and not that good either
The good news, however -- everything is cheep. They have local beers everywhere, and they're usually good and dirt-cheap -- around 2.5 shekels for a small bottle and 5 shekels for a big one. That said, I'm really starting to have a strong craving for a proper pint of Guinness. More cheap stuff -- imported stuff. Jack Daniels for about 4.5 shekels a glass, and sometimes a glass is an actual glass full with it
Being the bourgois people we are we had to get at least one good bottle of wine, so we bought a nice Californian Chardonnay in a real wine store in Cambodia -- it cost about $30, and was worth every penny just to rememebr how it feels like. Another thing we saw here is a kind of liquer with dead poisonous snakes in it -- they say the poison becomes non-dangerous after a while an that it's supposed to be healthy. Whatever. Have fun in independance day, I hear Maccabe gave us more reason to be happy! Cheers, Alon.
