I am Thai and I have been living in Israel for 2 years I have heard that Thai students will come to Israel and work at the hotel in elat. But I dont know much about details. Is there anybody can explain me in english please?Because my Hebrew is suck I dont know why you wanna bring them to work here. Umm I used to work at 5 stars hotel in thailand before. I worked as receptionist so I knew that we have to be polite with all guests as much as we could I wonder about what those thai students would learn by working with Israeli. From my point of view we ( thai )are more polite than Israeli anyway But I do understand why they wanna come to work here.I guess I understand lol PS: my question is how long they would work in Israel ? And which university they are studying now? umm I hope someone can give me the answer... .

I don't have any information on this beyond what is written in the article that Benkok linked to. But I'll try to answer your questions. The article says that an agreement was reached between the hotel association of Israel and an unnamed school for tourism in Thailand. According to the article 500 students will come to Eilat to do intern work alongside studies in one of the colleges in the city. The main reason quoted for this arrangement is a shortage of workers in the hospitality industry in Israel. This agreement was reached in coordination with the Thai Ministry of Education, a delegation from the ministry will be arriving in Israel shortly to examine the curriculum. The students are expected to arrive early 2008 and will receive a certificate for participating in this program. The article doesn't say how long they will be staying nor which school they're from. What do you think is the reason they want to go to Israel if as you say (and many people here agree) Thailand has better customer service? My gf has a bachelor in hotel management from Prince of Songkla Uni and she was quite surprised to hear about this arrangement

This arrangement have two sides. 500 Israeli students are also supposed to go to Thailand to do the same thing.
