Shortly thereafter, in 1979, the Islamic Revolution in Iran brought the Ayatollah Khomeini-led clerical regime to power.
These three events—the emergence of erotic media, the rise of Likud, and the establishment of the Islamic Republic—occurred within the same era and illustrate a striking pattern: when culture and technology increase openness toward sexuality, conservative or religious forces often respond with restrictions.
