FREAK OR UNIQUE?
Michael Jackson is branded a "freak" by a host of plastic surgeons, photographers and industry figures in a new documentary, dotmusic can exclusively reveal. ´Michael Jackson´s Face´, to be broadcast this Sunday, attempts to understand the reasoning behind the singer´s ever-changing appearance, whilst highlighting the full extent of Jackson´s apparent disfigurement. Plastic surgeons featured in the programme describe The King of Pop´s metamorphosis over the last 30 years as "bizarre" and "unnatural", whilst numerous other commentators question the superstar´s sanity. His own brother, Jermaine Jackson, reveals that "the day [Michael] knew he could change his appearance was the happiest day of his life." The hour-long show, which begins with an eerie graphic sequence of Jackson´s evolving visage, features additional contributions from Motown veteran Bobby Taylor - cited as discovering the Jackson 5 - biographer J. Randy Taraborrelli and Jackson´s former PR man Michael Levine, amongst others. Phil Ramey, a long-time Jackson paparazzi cameraman observes: "Suitable only for Halloween is his face. The nose is like a melting ice cream cone, you´re never going to put it back together again." Wallace Goodstein, a plastic surgeon who claims to have seen Jacko without his make-up, reveals: "He´s definitely not a natural skin tone. It´s closer to grey than any other thing I could describe." "Overall his face is aesthetically not pleasing," agrees fellow surgeon Jan Stanek. Psychologist Eileen Bradbury concludes the show by questioning where the masked musician will be in ten years time. "It looks fairly bleak really," she says.
