Ok - but even so - we're not all

officers of the law here. Some of us are in it for fun, for basic self defence, not for pulling criminals off the streets of the holy land. However, the article is a bit too scholastic for my taste, but it is interesting. Jess.

Hi

Hello, There is nothing wrong with practicing martial arts for fun and enjoyment. I think that it is a very legitimate reason to train. However, any person that is remotely interested in self defense, (even what you call basic self defense) should educate one's self about the realities of self defense and fighting. The article was written by a police officer and it has some very good information that can be of benefit to anyone, not only police officers. The physiological and psychological effects of a confrontation as described in the article are valid for both a police officer on duty and a civilian who finds himself attacked suddenly. If someone is only training in martial arts for fun, that is great. I find nothing wrong with that and I too mostly train because I enjoy training in the martial arts. Have a nice day, Alon

Fair enough! :)

However, I'd like to see how many people of those mentioned were female officers, versus the men. And as I recollect, the article doesn't say...:) should be interesting. Different mindset... Take care, and keep on training! :) Jess.

Great post and great article

I have read number of works on this subject but this one seems the best. Written in clear and simple language but discovering some things I didn't know. Alon, if you have other materials of this level please post them. Thanks, Moshe
